Light during colonization
    #1375646 - 03/14/03 11:08 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Ok, so my friend has read through the FAQ and has a few (8-10) grows under his belt but he has a question. He was reading the report the DEA put out about Fanaticus and how they grew out their shrooms. In the report (he cant find the link right now, but he is still looking) the DEA claimed that the jars the were in constant light colonized quicker than the ones in the dark. My friend is not one to believe what the DEA says, but doesnt see a reason that they would lie about this. Have any of you experienced this or is this just a mistake? What would be so harmful about exposing the colonizing jars to light?

The only problem my neighbor can see is premature pinning.

too much light exposure could possible make the mycelium want to pin before fully colonized.

IME it doesn't fucking matter although others have reported premature pinning. premature would mean the cake starts to pin before 100% colonization.

Thanks guys. That is what my friend figured, its just the DEA report noted a 25-40% decrease in the amount of time that it took to fully colonize.

hrrm. either the light provided some heat which increased colonization time or they tell you this so you don't do it in a dark, secretive place??? i dunno, i'm a full-blown conspiracy theorist :grin:

Do you really trust what the DEA puts in a report for the general public ? Do you think they really care what makes them grow the best ? Fuck no ! All they care about is what they can sieze and make thier own .
DEA = DICK EATING ASSHOLES
FBI = FUCKING BUNCH of IDIOTS
If you expose myc to light it will induce fruiting invitro style in jars , of course temps and all also induce fruiting , but when myc comes in contact with surface light ... it triggers the fruiting process .

Any information I give is not intended to aide you in the production of potentialy illegal substances !None of my exp comes from growing illegal varities , so take it as you will .
So with that said here is our mission statement .

Then the priest fell into a trance or swoon,& said unto the Queen of heaven ; Write unto us the ordeals; write unto us the rituals; write unto us the law !

This is why my friend is asking this question. He feels that the DEA would have no reason to lie about this, especially in a report that they wrote in order to try and bust Fanaticus. And yes, my friend believes that they at the very least tried to grow them the best way possible (in order to produce more psilocybin and psilocyn). Leave it up to the government to overkill what they do.
