Looking to read a good book...

Political in nature. Read Fortunate Son by Hatfield and loved it. It wasn't as anti Bush as I'd imagined it would be, and was a really good straight up biography with lots and lots of research. Gave me new respect for Dubya actually.

Anyway, I was thinking of Chris Matthews' book, as he seems not radical either way, or just a bit biased to the 'left'. Watching Hardball now, I see Howard Fineman(newsweek) and i'm always amazed by his insight. wonder if he has a book.

So any suggestions for some good political books?

I'm assuming you've read the four main distopia/utopia books?  If not, then read "1984" by George Orwell, "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, "Utopia" by Thomas Moore, and "The Republic" by Plato.

Sorry if you've read all of these already.  These are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Try "Statecraft as Soulcraft" by George F. Will.

'On The Duty of Civil Disobedience' by Henry David Thoreau

--------------------
To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.
