Does the Universe Make Mistakes?

Well, what do you think?
It's done a super job of being macro- and micro- organized for fucking forever, which makes things like accidents, flukes, wrong phone numbers, fiascos, scandals, and other such "unintentional" encounters seem highly improbable.
P.S. Your mother was supposed to die young.

i was just thinking about this today....
i don't think it can make mistakes because it is all that is. it must follow the rules...because it is the rule.
it's like an expirement with every factor considered.

Life, humans etc. are part of the universe too - and we make mistakes all the time. Unless that is what the universe had intended, in which I cannot then come up with a good example.

The next question is whether humans are disconnected from the rest of the interdependent relationships we are embedded in. As if we, in all our hero-dominator-controlled glory have somehow slipped from the reigns of nature and are running our own portion of the show.

Not really. We're just better organized organic computers than the rest of the known lifeforms, but we are still constructed, composed, designed, and ran by the universe.

That's what I was implying. The universe is fingering all of us. Two in the think, one in the extinct.

The word "mistake" is rather subjective.
The events that humans categorize as "mistakes" are only mistakes because of the human perspective that is applied to them.
If you take away that human perspective then no, there are no mistakes.

I was actually having a debate with a christian about this yesterday. I tried explaining how morals are a human construct and how our perception of 'right and wrong' should be no different than observing the force of gravity. When gravity kills someone, its not because its evil, it just is. All events are merely the result of the culmination of many intricate systems interacting with one another. And how we can attune our personal systems to those that are all-inclusive in order to better sense the natural flow of universe.
..he didnt get it.

Maybe the problem is that the universe is as highly specific as can be and never makes mistakes, in which case some very odd things could occur that, in physics, make sense but in general seem like a gigantic fluke.

Depressed people believe in mistakes.
Climatologists believe in mistakes.
Religious folk believe in mistakes.
Sometimes married people and divorced people believe in mistakes.

We're the universe so we're as qualified as anything.
But I would simply categorize a mistake as an unintended happening - not necessarily a human construct - say, the half life of Pu238 is 87.74 years - if this for no good reason took 88 years then that would be a mistake.
