heh...i did a vacuum on a quart jar once (on accident)...exept i didnt realize the vacuum until 8cc were injected...very sad story.

Anyway, as long as your honey:water ratio is close to what it was supposed to be (i.e. 5cc's doesn't do too much) you shouldn't have any problems.

heh. The same thing happened to me today when I innoculated some new jars. I punctured the tape seal with the needle, and the jar had suction in it, it sucked out about 6 CCs before I realized what was happening. Oh well, it'll colonize faster, boo hoo.

This happened to me also when i experimented this tek...
A good way to eliminate this problem is:

Drill 2 holes in the lid
in one put a big drop of hot resistant silicone
in the other one put a piece of filter disk or a sintetic cotton
This is useful for 2 pourposes:
- there's no vacuum in the jar after sterilization so you don't waste a syringe
- also the mycelium grows faster b/cause there's more air exchange...
