Well if life died out every time there was a pole shift then most life on earth wouldn't exist today. I bet we will see more natural disasters on a larger more devastating scale, but I highly doubt life will all die out. Shit will get bad and lots of people will die, but we will survive as a spices. Life might change but I welcome it for good or for bad.

I'm curious as to how a shift could kill them as well. Any test I've ever read about or seen on TV regarding animals and magnetic fields dealt solely with their navigation abilities and had nothing to do with trauma.

red wing black birds don't fly much higher than the level in which humans live. The amount of electromagnetic radiation to kill a fucking bird is HUGE. People would have surely been effected by it. Even if there is a pole shift, and it occurs every couple hundred thousand years, it isn't the apocalypse. We came from something ya know, and it sure as fuck didn't take 200,000-300,000 years
