I know it is still winter here in Pennsylvania but I was wondering if there are people from the area on this site besides me and if they actually have any luck hunting in PA, i was looking at the species that grow here naturally and it is pretty slim pickings, pan. sub. is about it from what i found.... is it worth looking for any tips for my friend the rooster to help him find them around here when it gets warm again?
thanks

i found some info from a few different sources that panoleus subbalteus among other varieties grow around here. However, panoleus seems like the best kind to start looking for as it is fairly common and widespread, also very potent, almost as strong as psilocibe cubensis or howeve u spell it. it's pretty shitty weather right now, raining and flooded and kinda cold. hopefully when it warms up a lil all the extra water will make everything a lil more moist and suitable for shrooms to grow. i wuz wonderin if anyone knew what temperature range the panoleus subbalteus starts growing? hopefully then ill know when to look when it warms up some. thanx for the help. any additional info would be appreciated.

with subbs I would have to say the hotter the weather the better (like from 90* to 100* ?). Thats what this particular mush thrives on. Check around rotted haystacks, compost, manure, etc...
By the way... saying that subbs are " verry potent " couldn't be any Further from the truth in my experience. I'd say that they are fairly weak to moderate in potency, not quite that of the Cubensis. For example if it takes 2g's dried to reach a level 3 with cubes, I'm guessing it would take 4g's for subbs if not more.
