"cyanofriscosa" questions and advice
    #13731101 - 01/04/11 06:31 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

A friend of a friend has been keeping mycelium alive for a bit now, kind of at a stand still as to what to do, rhizomorphs are present. black wood chips were added along with bits of cardboard and stem ends. they appear to be colonizing well, they are in mason jars in a warm place atm, In december a planter was used and placed outside, it's growing slow but going.

My questions are, what should he do differently since this is a wood loving species. have watched the video mushroom growing made easy, but it deals mainly with Brf and such, also cannot get a pressure cooker.

and when planting Myc outside how should you do so? bury it deep or not at all?

was told to use black wood chips and these clean burning Douglas fir pellets, is this prime for them fruit off of? have also read using spent coffee grounds, is this any good? what are the best temps for fruiting and colonization for this species?

Any and all info on this species would be greatly appreciated

Woodlovers are finicky and no one has had much success cultivating them with traditional, artificial, indoor methods.

Your best bet is to make an outdoor bed. There are threads on this topic, take a look at a thread I've been helping with. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13714531
