Vacuum storage bag as a glove box.

What do you think using these big storage bags which are compressed using vacuum cleaner as a glove box substitute?
I started this hobby after long break and I have barely any equipment left. I Used this bag setup to make syringe from my over 5 year old print. That syringe turned out to be clean even though print was exposed for some time during I scraped spores off of it.
My bag have zip lock style opening on one side and clear to see through. I put 4 pints to the inside corners to raise top side up to provide working space. Zip lock can be partially closed so it leaves openings to hands only. I believe that this setup makes quite good still air environment like glove box does. This setup also takes less space when put away and it is not suspicious in any way if you have to care about that.

You definitely should not use these in place of an actual box if you are doing bulk substrates, making spore syringes, or anything other than PF tek really. The airflow from removing your hands out of the bag is going to be more than enough to bring in contaminants.

I always carry clear plastic trash bags for use when on the road cloning wild mushrooms. They work great. Be careful with your flame so you don't catch the bag on fire. RR

Nice to hear that some experienced growers have found this kind of setup working.
I have understood that people have holes in their gloveboxes to get tools out for flaming. moving things in and out of that hole also generates some drafts so I thought that moving hands slowly into the bag cant be that bad if gloveboxes with holes for flaming also works.
I have always been little bit confused about gloveboxes beacause aint those spore sized particles take very long time to settle even in the still air conditions? Hands, opening lids etc. generates drafts and may lead those airborne particles to unwanted places. Still gloveboxes seems to perform..

Yes, and remember, you're not going to open a jar or do a grain to grain transfer with one hand out of the box. It's not the contaminants that are in the air within the still air box, but that they're not moving around due to air currents. Glove or still air boxes do not give 100% success, but they're a nice alternative to spending half a grand before one makes up his mind if this hobby is for him long-term or not. RR
