Saddam's Soldiers Surrender

"TERRIFIED Iraqi soldiers have crossed the Kuwait border and tried to surrender to British forces - because they thought the war had already started.
The motley band of a dozen troops waved the white flag as British paratroopers tested their weapons during a routine exercise.
The stunned Paras from 16 Air Assault Brigade were forced to tell the Iraqis they were not firing at them, and ordered them back to their home country telling them it was too early to surrender..."

Smart Iraqi soldiers.
Soldiers who may in fact be looking forward to liberation.

I really hope that they're going to surrender if the war starts, but don't forget that all the info about what's going on there is limited to propaganda. Remember how long it took before we got the real info about the "patriot vs. scud missiles" in the first gulf war. The almost 100% success rate of interception turned out to be 0% success rate. Especially unreliable is yellow press like the "Sunday mirror".

We need to drop some leaflets informing the Iraqis to wait until the war officially starts before surrendering. I wonder what kind of reception they got when they got back to their lines.

I agree...this may be nothing more than propaganda. (in fact the odds are that it is) It's always difficult to sort the fact from fiction...

I dont think its propaganda. Their are two types of military in Iraq, The republic Guard and the other guys with guns... The Guard will be a tough group to defeat and they are fortified with advanced weapons. The others out number the guard 5 to 1 but have little or no training, no proper equipment and are sent out into the desert to fend for themselves... During the last war these guys surrendered by the thousands just so that they could get something to eat and drink.. Its when we actually go up against Iraqs REAL military that we will see just how tough they are.

Now Rono.... follow along if you can.
He said that you used that phrase within the last few months. I read his oh-so-long post a couple of times. Nowhere does it say you said it for the first time in the last few months.
-------------------- You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers
