Keeping Jars hidden and Warm
    #1370539 - 03/12/03 08:05 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

this guy i know lives with his parents and is trying to grow without anybody knowing, he does everything in his closet, but the problem is his closet stays around 60 degrees, he wants to know what is a good way to raise the temperature without anything too elaborate and without starting a fire. if its a constant 60 degrees and hes in no big hurry does it even matter that the temperature is that low? what are the benefits for having the temperature at the optimal degrees.

I don't know why more people don't use them cause they work well and are easy to set the temps. Electric blanket.

AFOAF's "Operation: Can't let parents find inubator and jars"

It's stashed under his bottom dresser drawer with a heating pad. He can't leave the heating pad on too long otherwise it will raise the temp of the jars over 90 and that isn't good. So he leaves it on till the thermometer reads around 87, then he turns it off and it stays pretty warm for a long time. But with his computer being on all the time and the heating pad, it has raised his room temperature so it keeps the jars around 79 degrees when the heating pad is off. Its around 70 degrees everywhere else in the house haha.

alright, well another idea would be space heater, same fire hazard, or maybe a fishtank heater, inside a rubbermaid container or jar, but thats provided you have a large growing space, but you said you are looking for stealth which means

HEATING PAD

as long as you keep the heating pad on LOW there's really nothing to worry about. my friend bought his at walmart for about 8 bucks. if you get one make sure it's doesn't have an auto-off option, because those are like 30 dollars more... But heating pads aren't really a fire hazard anymore. Back in the day when technology wasn't as good, they were a hazard, but if you look in the manual for the heating pad it doesn't say ONCE that you shouldn't leave it on for extended periods. Plus, a lot of reptile owners use them to heat aquariums and they are on for quite some time. I recoomend one definately!

why not get a fish tank heater and a 2 liter bottle. submerses it in there and run cord up thru pop bottle top. put this in some kind of enclosure that will keep heat in your stealthy place. hell a duct-taped up box to fit the space would do well to incubate. how does your friend plan on fruiting?

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

well my friend's friend has an piece of the attic that can only be accessed through a small 2 foot by 3 foot door in his closet. It's perfect and it's about the size of another room. it has electrical outlets and lights, the whole works.

I don't think anyone should be growing under their parents house...

What if for some strange reason you get busted? That's a felony for psilocin production. Hell, if you have enough growing they could start to seize assets and such. Why not wait until you're on your own????

"Seize assets" as in your parents' home. You're worried about causing a fire and destroying your parents' home but you're putting it at greater risk of it being seized if you're caught.

Good idea. The whole PF issue was started by kids ordering spores which parents found.

my buddys are inside a 8" speaker box with syrofoam insulation, and a 4 watt light as heat source, he said he wrapped the light with aluminum foil to block it.
8" speaker box will hold bout 16 jars.

If you happen to have a computer, take off the case and throw a couple jars in there.  Then put the case back on   I'd check to make sure what the temperature gets to inside the case with a thermometer, but it should work.

my house is always like 60 too....

i wrap my jars in a sock first, then wrap them again in a warm cloth like cotton or fleece

then i place them in my clothing drawer covered by more insulating clothing, during the day for a few hours the sun hits the drawer and its nice and toasty in there

it still doesnt colonize that fast, but its good enough for me
