Nothing.
People will bitch about it on the internet get some people to agree that its wrong then it stops there. period. nothing else will get done All the threads on how bad the system is for the most part amounts to nothing more then half hearted complaining. You want to create real change go out to the community dont create more slacktivism and hot air by bitching about it to a bunch of strangers on the net.

Nice one man
Those skills will be needed in the not-to-distant future.
I'm preparing myself by becoming as self-sufficient in as many ways as possible. My favourite being growing my own food
I'm also waking people up. I don't always enjoy this as it is hard work and i get too many bad ratings for it!

>People will bitch about it on the internet get some people to agree that its wrong then it stops there.
I think you're wrong. It doesn't stop there. If I get even one person to change their mind, that's progress. Maybe they will do the same thing in the near future. It never stops!
>All the threads on how bad the system is for the most part amounts to nothing more then half hearted complaining.
I agree somewhat; after reading threads like this one for years, it's easy to become jaded and cynical, and that's when talk of how bad things are starts to sound like complaining. But try to recall how it was when you were still "innocent" and didn't know about the evil things that governments can do. In that frame of mind, re-read some of the posts you are disparaging and see if they sound any different.
>You want to create real change go out to the community dont create more slacktivism and hot air by bitching about it to a bunch of strangers on the net.
The Shroomery counts as a community. Online relationships are different than real-life ones of course, but I wouldn't exactly call everyone here "strangers". We are like-minded people about some things but disagree on others, and that is why we have discussions like this one. To try to find a middle ground.
But you're right about this: posting online isn't the greatest way of facilitating change. What would you suggest we do, as individuals, to help our communities? Something a little less vague than "going out" I hope.

But he gave a meaningful reply nonetheless, wouldn't you agree?
That was my idea
Speaking of The Matrix, i saw that movie again the other night.
I learnt a few really important things from it which really enlightened me.
Lemmie give you an example. I'm warning ya now, this is getting a little philosophical and i little off topic but i'd sure love to share it with the Shroomery
This scene from The Matrix tought me so much
For me, by Neo so calmly saying "no" it symbolized saying "no" to our "cultural operating system" which is doing pretty much nothing but making us miserable slaves (prohibition of divine plants is the root of the problem as Ternece McKenna argues in his great book Food of the Gods). The "cultural operating system" is very extensive and most people cannot help but feel at least a slight sense of isolation from not being a part of it (eg doing illegal drugs and having to hide them when conforming would be so much easier).
Neo says "no" so calmly. This tells me that just saying "no" to our "cultural operating system" (and REALLY MEANING it) is all you gotta do. Not thinking no to some thigns but yes to others (in other words sit on the fence). One must committedly say "no" and make his/her own rational decisions.
Neo demonstrated the power of saying "no" (and really meannig it) by Neo being able to stop bullets. I got a medaphore outa this. The bullets represent aspects of our culture (such as drug prohibition, the expectation of going to work and the shunning of spirituality) and Neo really meant it when he said "no" so it stoped all the bullets.
Bottom line is, when someone stands up and says "no" to tyranny or our "cultural operating system" (whatever the example may be) that there is no limit to the possibilities that can be achieved.

A New System to replace the New Order? Sounds zeitgeisty.
You're making Zeitgeist sound like a bad thing :P
Good or bad. Serious debate needs to comence (not neccessarily in this thread, but deffinatly sooner or later) on the topic of an alternative system to the fiat currency system.
Personally, i really like the Venus Project. The creator is amoungst the smartest men i have ever heard speak.
In this short thread i made a few good posts on alternative ways of living. Namely, Venus Project
I'm interested in what you have to say is all

I have flashblock turned on, but I saw The Matrix in theaters about 5 times when it first came out. So I know the scene you mentioned, and agree with your metaphorical assessment. The whole film is so steeped in metaphor I could write a book on it. I wouldn't be surprised if someone already has
