Cakes and nutrients

Hello dear members!
I have a simple question.
I am sitting on a lot of cakes that are fully colonized. My question is; will they spend their nutrients while sitting in the jars? They are all fully colonized, ready for fruiting, altough I cannot start that process for a while.
My fear is that the cakes will run out of nutrients before I can fruit them properly and by doing so, reduce my yield.
Thank you everyone for your previous help.
A happy new year BTW!

Store them in the fridge if you want to delay fruiting them.
Yes, the mycelium will indeed consume more and more of the substrate and will eventually fruit invitro. ~P~

Its likely they will get "bored" and decide to fruit in-vitro without your permission.

Does this mean energy, or are you just talking about them fruiting? None of the cakes have fruited in vitro. Hmm..lets try to ask again with more clarity from my side:)
If I delay the fruiting (further than the one week period, after full colonization) can I expect lower yields?

No. The one week consolidation period is a bare minimum. Two weeks are better. The mycelium won't 'consume' the nutrients during that time, but will rather 'absorb' them, giving a better eventual flush. If you need to store them longer than two to three weeks, use the refrigerator. RR
