HERE is the post from agar back in the day that made me make one years ago...

Basically BC...
U just blend an agar wedge in distilled water, and there is your instant lc...
All must be done in a sterile manner though...
And all metal Eberbach blender top runs a good $500

All over it

Last update, since im talking to myself :oldman:

Ofcourse they all melted
But after further inspection, my hamilton beach one, only the lid that holds the blender base to the jar was melted, so i attached a jar ring around it like pictured, and all works well

No air bubbles leak through...

Sorry i couldnt get a good pic of the mycelium/agar floating around in the water!
Enjoy...Goodluck Guys!

Nice, what's the blender for specifically? I just got one from a friend cause he didn't need it anymore but didn't think anything of it as far as being used for mushies haha...I see the LC maker comment but what do you mean by that?

I'm confused. :confused2:

So, you bought an Oster blender, new, right? And when you talk of pressure cooking, you are referring to pressure cooking the blender assembly, on top of a Mason jar, correct? And were you using metal jar lid bands? That's what I use. Works like they were designed that way, which, according to women who went to Home Economics in the 50's and 60's, say it's no coincidence. Just sayin' yo.

...then in your picture(s), however, it looks like the blender assembly you're using is plastic. I have an Oster blender, and about 7 blender assemblies (...4 would've been plenty, by the way  ) which are completely metal... the blender assemblies, I mean. The blender base is not. I'm just about positive I'd ruin the motor in the base if I pressure cooked it. :lol2:

Well, I make rice cake slurries a lot, and I've pureed a few agar plates in my day. Thing is fucking awesome. Also, I've done some proving with using an Oster blender, and I can't really see any benefit to buying the Eberbach thingy. You'd only get (...at best) results as good as what you can get from an Oster and some Mason jars.

...to clarify what I mean by 'done some proving' here; I've blended things - cakes, colonized agar, etc. - and used the solution/slurry to inoculate jars of grain, and then upon full colonization, I make up some test plates from the colonized pieces of grain.

Every one of the plates grew squeaky clean. :awesomenod:

So, yeah, the thing is fucking great... but you damn sure want the metal blender assemblies. There's some replacement parts website I found that sells the blender assemblies fucking CHEAP! Like, $3.00 each or something. I can look it up, if you're totally interested! :laugh2:

Man, that was so cheezy.

That is correct...im now using a Hamilton Beach blender assembly with jar bands...
I tried the oster blender base(as in what holds the assembly to the jar...not the part with a motor) in the pc as i thought i could, and it warped....

The flat part is completely metal...the thing that the blades are attached to...
I could use the Oster blender if i could get the assembly out, but its going back to walmart for an refund/exchange
