Christian Site discussing cults

So I was reading an article that a christian based website published about cults, how to identify one, and some popular ones in the states. I was reading about the Hare Krishnas, and most of what the author said seemed fairly logical till the very end...
Quote:
Significantly, the land of their origin--India--has horrible poverty. It also has desperate problems of overpopulation, illiteracy, hunger, mismanagement, and suffering. So it seems strange that religions which have brought such trouble to India would be imported to America where we have flourished and prospered under Christianity for several centuries.
I can't believe people can be so blind to think that the fortune of a country comes down to its populous' faith.
Here's the article: http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/200questions/article_10.aspx?#85
-------------------- Aaa...E I O Uuu...A E I O Uuu..A E I O uh Uuu.. *Cough* *Cough* Ooo...U E I O Aaa...U E I Aaa..A E I O Uuuuu... At first sight, The Perfection of Wisdom is bewildering, full of paradox and apparent irrationality.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but I think Christianity should recognize that every religion started as a cult. Perhaps they should also realize that we have modern medicine and science to keep us from a lot of the woes mentioned, and that has nothing to do with faith.
Science 1. Religion 0.

Some of the more "hardcore" Christians are THIS fucked in their thinking... I mean reading.. I mean what they're told.. I mean, what they've been manipulated into thinking for centuries. I never get tired of how incessant they are in pushing their cult onto others without any EXPERIENCE whatsoever. They're fucking selfish, anyway... vain attempts at 'decency' and 'righteousness' to save their souls from the wrath of their loving, 'Santa Claus-like' creator. If any form of Christianity has 'got it right' to some degree, it's Christian mystics... and they're a rare breed!

Id just like to point out that its not someone being a Christian that makes them at fault but being extremely narrow minded. EVERY religion has narrow minded and blind people. EVERY religion has its corrupt leaders. EVERY religion thinks its right an all else is inferior.
This is why I hardly ever target Christianity as a whole because realistically, Christianity is the same as all the rest

If it wasn't Christianity that I had to deal with most often, I'd probably agree.

Religion prays on ignorance. So it's probably all on the same page of shit that sucks.

1. The more people you have in a group, the more nutters you get regardless of what that group is. Christianity is the biggest religion on the Earth. This means that they have the most nutters in comparison to Buddhism, Islam, and others .
2. Its human nature to pay more attention to the bad in an organization than the good. Peoples opinions of certain religious groups are skewed often times because they dont care to hear about the good they do and just focus on the bad. Think about how much charity the Christian churches have given to people all around the world.
3. As far as cults are concerned, every religion starts out as a cult in a way. Shit, Jesus was considered a cult leader and so was Muhammad. Its not until a religion goes "main stream" that it isnt considered a cult anymore.
-Im in no way defending Christianity and actions with a Christian label. I just think that several people overlook the "big picture" about what religion is and how it affects society.

Yeah, really! And they seem to be genuine mystics... Many of their notions are in-tune with most eastern teachings it seems; but instead of Buddha or whomever it's Jesus/Mary/Sophia. They're quite open, tolerant and even believe in reincarnation. If there's any form of Christianity that's at all substantial, it's theirs.

So why do you believe that? Just wondering...
