Some shots from last weeks forage around Napa Valley. No ID's needed, just putting these up for others entertainment and research. If it looks like I might have the wrong idea about something though, do tell - I'm no professional!
Sulpher Tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare)

Puffball (Lycoperdon perlatum)

Psathyrella longipes

Panus rudis

Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus)

Mycena sp.

Leratiomyces ceres

Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis

Jack o Lantern (Omphalotus olivascens)

Grisette (Amanita vaginata)

Deer Mushroom (Pluteus cervinus)

Coprinopsis lagopus

Boletus truncatus

Boletus flaviporus

Boletus dryophilus (one covered in Hypomyces mold... eww)

Blewit (Lepista nuda)

Chanterelle! Well.. a tiny one. Next week should be much better.

And the good stuff, all in one place (aka dinner / my favorite part)

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed the photos!

Nice pics!
Did you eat the Laccaria and the Pluteus? Has anyone else? Looking for a bit more culinary info on those mushrooms. Enlighten me...

Yeah, the Pluteus was a first and I probably wont again. It ended up pretty mushy/slimy even with a quick/hot stir-fry.
I eat the Laccaria fairly often in small amounts as a mushroom-mixer for its texture. It's consistency is much like squid or crab. Kinda snappy/rubbery. This time I mixed it with the puffball mushrooms in a scramble (since they are so soft like tofu when you cube them). The Laccaria though tends to get bad quick (smell in particular - like salmon eggs). I only eat the freshest purple ones I find. They have no odor or flavor for the most part.

Thanks for the info! I like that squiddy kind of texture..maybe they'll end up in my basket next year. As far as the Pluteus goes, I'll probably keep it on the "survival food" list.
Happy hunting!

Wow, very nice pics and good finds. I am hoping to learn more about edibles and expand my hunting horizons. Psilocybes are great but you can't eat them all the time!
