This guy had used the shroom wizards grow guide and the temp was 68f-70f thoughout the entire process. the casing was opend a week and two days ago. the is a little little bit of mycelium on the surface. Should he just keep watering with the lids off? I'm sure that guy would love any advise.

You won't like this advice much, I'm afraid -
Everything I've ever read concerning Shroom Wizard's techniques was full of errors and false shortcuts. Best not to use it. Go instead to the FAQs, and read the casing for dummies article - everything you need to know.
Good luck!

Sorry, it works. And it works very well. No problem harvesting 2-3 ozs. with 9 jars. (only 3 out of 12 contamed). AND ITS STILL FLUSHING. Dont listen to people who swear by any method. Shrooms are living creatures, they are meant to grow. I know its not the BEST method, but it is a very viable option. I personally see absolutely no point in the pf tek whatsoever. But hey, do what you want. STOP BASHING SHROOM WIZARD!

Ok, you are on crack fungal. MushroomX, save yourself the trouble NOW, and I mean now, go buy a terrerium and SAVE your casings! Shroom Wiz's guide is horrible, and albeit easy - it leaves your 'casings' VERY prone to contams and DRY if you're not there every couple of hours to mist it. This is not ARGUEABLE, it's a FACT. The way his guide is laid out, those will most likely be the results. Theoretically his guide would work if you lived in a very humid environment, like the fucking forest or something. But leaving the casing exposed in any room or "on top of your fridge" for the entire period after colonization is RIDICULOUS. It'd have to be in a constant relatively sterile environment with a 95 rh. Any of your rooms have that? Buy a clear rubbermaid terrerium, sift the soil a bit if its hard (which it usually is, with clumpy soil), throw an inch of perlite on the bottom and place your casings in there. If you can't afford that, simply lightly mist and replace the lid. He says you wont ever need the lids again, but thats bs. How else is potting soil/verm casing supposed to keep a 90-95rh in exposed house air for longer then 2 hours? He also mentions that spraying the entire bed of mycelium is 'ok' and will just go 'underground because thats where its meant to grow.' B.S - Buy the terrerium, mist indirectly, and you'll see faster growth, faster pinning, and your shrooms will live, and you wont have to worry about drowning the top of the mycelial network. You can take fungal's crackhead advice, but browse around a little and you'll see the general opinion of his guide is quite Negative. And by general I mean 95%. Hope this helps.

I'm not a big fan of the Shroom Wizard either.
His teks are full of errors and confusion...as far as I'm concerned.
But what do I know.

I've never had a problem with colonization, in fact I've never had a contaminated cake. That sad thing is I've only had one cake fruit that out of maybe ten cakes. the temp in my room is 68f - 70f, is that my problem? Hey grouch, isn't 95rh a bit much for a casing?

its not an ego thing. I agree with you. Its not the best method, and i forgot that instead of takin the lids off, i poked holes in them. But seriously, you guys talk about it like its the anti-shroom. Its definitely better than a lot of other teks. I know it seems contradictory to everything ever wriitten, but it works. and it works well from my experience. All im saying is, try to be objective.

some people like fat arses . after pinning you can lower rh to around 86 to 80 rh, lower then that is not good .

I was once a young grasshopper as yourself and an apprenticed under Shroom Wizard but as i grew into a Eagle i had to leave the nest an fly with other Eagles. My first real test {casing} was with the Shroom Wizards guidance but the ugly green monster soon consumed all that was good...heed my warning and soon you to will fly like an Eagle....

ok the guy rigged an old thermostat to a lava lamp to keep the temp at 82 F and the lid is back on the casing. the lid will be on until mycelium colonizes a bit more and then I'll put it in a terrarium at 82f. the guy has no hydrometer, is there any other way to measure humidity? and are these steps ok or should he do something else?
