So when i was young, my family was catholic, so i use to go to church. I'm sure as you all may know catholics partake in something called the eucharist, which is the body and blood of christ. The blood is actually just wine. Now, that wine is the best wine ive ever tasted, and ive been on a search of that wine ever since. Because the church wouldn't tell me what wine they use.
I think ive finally found it. At a party last night someone pulled out a bottle of Ménage à trois, which is french for threesome. Anyway, it tasted so similar to the wine at the churches ive been too. Im so glad ive found it.
Has anyone else had Red Ménage à trois wine?

With a name like that, it's no wonder they didn't want to tell you

I actually saw some in the store the other day and was tempted to buy some. What kind of a taste does it have? I hate dry, bitter wines  :puke:

Its pretty flavorful, from what i remember. I was pretty drunk when i tried it. But it seemed to have a robust fruity flavor. Not sure if thats how i should be describing it. But it definitely wasn't dry.

My favorites are blush wines, but I've also had a red muscadine wine that was delicious. I made mulled wine the other day using Gabbiano Chianti red wine, and I tasted it first out of the bottle before I made the recipe. It was NASTY :puke:

Fruity is good! I might have to pick some up next time

I usually get this:

or this:

And I also love Arbor Mists Exotic Fruits White Zinfandel. My boyfriend always gives me shit for it and argues that it's not real wine, but I don't care, it's delicious!

Ménage à trois has not been around long (less then 10 years). it gets it's name because it's a blend of 3 reds. the church probably  was a cheap bold cabernet or something close to that.

Pretty much any red is fine with me, I haven't found a white that I liked.

When I was forced to go to church (it was an Anglican church) the wine wasn't anything special.

bold. not as bold as a cab or zin but it's got a bite. another great blend is Red Truck. it's about 10-12 bucks as is Ménage à trois.

someone church's have WAY to much money... (as if that needs to be said) and some serve decent wine. buying wholesale they can get it for about 1/4 the price tag (or less) that we would see at the store.

I also grew up catholic.

I started taking the eucharist at about 11 or 12 i think up until 17.
At that time i didn't know the differences in wines, but now that i look back some churches had some pretty good stuff.

But then i was disgusted at the fact that about 100 different people go up and drink out of the SAME backwashed chalice and the way the dude cleans it is by wiping it with the SAME holy napkin.

They should really have little paper sample cups.

I am not really a wine drinker. I might have a few glasses at a holiday or something. Tried this one the other day and it was really good.

Not the cheapest, probably 12-20 bucks a bottle but it is yummy.

I thought that the Catholic church has emphatically insisted that the wafers and the wine are "transmuted" or something when they are blessed, and that they literally become the flesh and blood of Christ.  It isn't actually just wine, it's the literal blood of Christ, according to the pope anyway.

Am I misinformed on this?

Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention in a thread about red wine that Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley is absolutely the best, in my humble opinion, at least right now.

it depends on who you ask, pretty hardcore catholics will tell you it literally turns into the body and blood of christ when its blessed, but otehrs will just say its symbolism.

yes, different sects of Christianity have different opinions on this. i believe most that believe it's not just symbolism believe it turns into the body and blood once it is eaten by a person with "truth faith".

I thought about drinking a small glass of red wine, every other night. Whats the best bang for the buck, that is a common nationwide brand?

I don't know shit about wine, or alcohol in general.
