Does anyone have a link to this stuff? I'm getting laid off of my job Christmas Eve so I should have some time to pursue this in the New Year.

I just recently got back frolm the 10-day at the Ontario retreat.
Not much to say about it except that I benefited from learning the technique.

I have a friend who does one or more a year. From him I hear they are brutal affairs but well worth it. But don't take the brutal part lightly. Not for everyone.

Cool! Im gonna go india/arunachala in jan 2012, going to meditate around Ramanashram for a whole month I doubt i'll even go to any satsangs just gonna be with Ramana in the Heart Obviously things can change over a year but thats the plan...
I think you should really do this, there must be something in the NY area or close by... i still recommend finding a non-duality/self inquiry teacher aswell, there usually more NY listings on this page but its good none the less

If it's a goenka retreat they're tough. No talking for 10 days, heavy meditation, etc. I hear what makes or breaks it are the instructors....but they are all volunteer so you never know what you're getting. These are all "insight" retreats with body scanning being the main focus.
I've probably going to few weeks at a center in MO this Jan-Feb. It's run by a guy who teaches tranquility insight meditation. I think this is what I need because when I do dry insight stuff (noting, scanning etc) it only takes a session or two to bring up things that I don't know how to deal with skillfully.
I get really bad headaches, anxiety etc. They teach a relaxation method into the meditation so every time something pops into your mind or a body part cramps or whatever you note it and then relax out before continuing.

Cool, thanks for the links. I'll look through and find something hopefully. I know they are brutal but I'm looking for something rough.
