Whats a good casing Method?

A buddy of mind is growing some Haw. and T.C.. He wants to use some type of flat cake method with a casing layer. He also wants to leave the substrate in the cassarole dishes that he is using throught the whole fruiting process. He knows that you have to crumble up the cakes and then cover with a casing layer. Would it be okay for him to :
1. Fill the dish with 1/2 to 1 inch of damp vermiculite 2. Crumble up three fully colonized cakes 3. Cover with 1/2 to 1 inch of damp vermiculite 4. Cover with sarian wrap, poke 10 - 12 holes, label 5. Place in incubator for 3 - 5 days 6. After mycolium grows through the top layer of verm. take off the sarian wrap and place in fruting chamber 7. Enjoy fruits of labor
Would this be okay. Anyone have comment?

Straight Verm sucks IMHO.
Try 60/40 Verm and Coco Coir....you will like it much better.

No doubt about it, use a thin layer of Vermiculite on the bottom of the pan. Then use coco coir. It is the shit. You wont believe how fast it will be covered with Myce!

1. I would cut the cakes in half 2. I would set them on half inch of moist sterilized verm. 3. Add the half cakes. And use 1 to crumble and fill all the spaces between the cakes. 4. Then add a half inch of 50 Peat Moss 50 Verm Sterilized and moist. 5. Last cover with aluminum foil and set in incubator at over 80 degrees and you will se the mycelium taking over in 2 to 3 days

Vermiculite alone take ages to colonize... someone have some casings i with some plain humid verm,,, and they are still trying to colonize... he got one with colonization of the casing layerbut by blob spot... not realy cool and not at all even.... there all near his balast for hotness, and he cased them like 2 week ago... he just did a coir/verm casing, and he already see mycelium poking out... like 3 days... already in fruiting chambre...he cant wait to see the result... and the casing are almost just plain shreeded straw, and halfs cakes. good luck, have fun. 60/40 is a great TEK for casing.
IMO better then the 50/50.
