Anyone dispose of contaminated cakes in their compost piles?

If so, do you ever see recovering mycelium produce fruits?
My friend has been discarding his contamed cakes/casings into his compost pile all winter. He hasn't seen much in the way of growth, but the weather is only just starting to support it. He thinks it would be really nice to check it one day and see fruits, but he isn't sure if this will ever happen.
In case you all were wondering, the compost pile consists of, listed in order from largest to smallest amount, leaves, twigs, manure, discarded fruits and veggies, coffee grounds, egg shells, and the occasional piece of bread or random garbage.
Thanks

This guy I know did the same thing on one side of his heap, but he won't know how well it's working until it warms up a bit.

The leaves are probably too acidic. It might help to add some lime to bring down the pH.

the great thing about the compost pile is that you never know when you will wake up in the morning and see fruits all over. just check after it rains. it does work. as far as the temperature goes. i dont know the impact that the weather would have on the mycellium. it is a spring/summer thing.

RC just took a huge 24 inch by 30 inch contaminated casing and put it in a compost pile. No pins yet as it has only been 1 day. You never know what will happen

WE dug up some dirt n the back yard, and threw in a few contammed cakes and what not... Couple here and there fotr 2 weeks...we went back there and tried to dig some dirt up, and it was all white underneath, its showing sure signs of growth...without any extra nutrients... Not a compost pile, but i had no faith, and the shit grew in some clay like dirt...

That is good news. I had heard that spent cakes/casings would colonize successfully, but that contaminated stuff would not...guess that's not entirely true .

I'm really hoping these bad boys pull through and produce when the weather improves. I think we should all start doing this and compare results

Actually, from what I understand the heat generated by the composting process will prevent frost from doing any real damage, though you may not see any growth during this period.
However, some places get pretty cold. I'm sure compost piles freeze solid up in Canadia
