I'm hoping this is mycelium.

wait longer. can't tell in the pics.
observe for growth rate(should be fast but not colonizing the whole jar in two days.) and colour(should be very white).

Does it seem coincidental that these spots are all forming in relatively the same place?
Same height at the jar, right under inoculation holes. My first instinct is to say "what else could it be?" Because those spots are exactly where I touched my needle when I injected them.
It doesn't look quite like pictures I've seen of other mycelium, but maybe it's too early to tell. This is growth as of 6 Days after inoculation.

Do not shake brf jars !
It probably is myc. Just leave them sit, looks how it should.

If youre using pf jars what ever you do dont shake the jar, all youll do is redistribute the dry verm layer and contam the jar...if its not then go ahead.

Horrible advice, especially for someone's first time.

Don't do that! Lmao, wow...
Anyway your jars look fine for the first 6 days, post a new pic in a week and you'll most likely be just fine, the bdc cake looks well mixed and as long as you were sterile for inoculation and follow pf tek to the "t" you'll be fine :-)

I knew not to shake the jars. Lol.
But, I have pretty fine vermiculite, and it was mixed with maximum fruiting formula so I guess it's alright.
But I'm hoping they'll be done colonizing in a week, but maybe that's too much to ask for. I'm hoping to have at least a personal harvest before New Years Eve so I can study my brains away for the New Year

What is the max fruiting formula? Where did you get it from? But most importantly, what's in it?

It looks like it is. Make sure you keep it under a stable temperature as the early stages of myc. growth are the most prone to contams. I'd suggest bagging them in a black trash bag and then tying the top of the bag around an empty toilet paper roll with it's end covered in an alcohol towel. This will help cut down on contams.

for 5 1/2 pint jars, use 2 cups verm, 1 cup brf, 1 cup water. Simple as that and you don't have to spend money on that special formula... Hell, you can even get a bunch of brf and verm for $25 off amazon.com, that'll last you for 60+ cakes easy!

you don't shake anything after innoculating, not even grain jars.
shaking after inoculation will just cause the monokariotic mycelium to take longer to find another strand and form dykariotic mycelium, which grows fast.
so if you shake after inoc you are just making it take longer to full colonization. you should shake after 20, 30% is colonized

That's true of spore inoculations, but LC and g2g you can shake right away.

That's exactly what I used. Lol. That's what the max fruiting formula amounts to. It's not like a special bought mix or something, its something you mix yourself. Apparently there may have been a debate in the past on the proportions of BRF to Verm and water, but this Max Fruiting Formula is the accepted "norm"
I made it with BRF I found at an organic health food store, and vermiculite i found at lowes. And "drinking" water from Walmart.
