Too many holes in SGFC?

I was just wondering if this is ever a problem. I drilled 1/4" holes one inch apart all around my shotgun fruiting chamber, for use with oyster mushrooms on PF cakes.
I saw some suggestions to put the holes two inches apart. I will admit that I was not watching the mushroom videos when I did this, I was going by memory, but now I'm worried maybe I won't be able to hold enough humidity in this thing?
I was thinking that if it is really too many holes, I could try to cover half of them up with tape or something. Is this necessary?

You got it!
Tape em up.
Run it a few days first to see if there is an issue. Then cover holes as needed till you have your desired humidity.
It's always a good idea to run you FC empty a few days to let everything settle down. That way your not scrambling to fix minor issues while your cakes are in there

So if I do an empty run, do I need a hygrometer (sp?) to make sure my humidity is in the right range?
I do not have one and did not really plan on getting one, but I will if it is necessary

Yeah, you're gonna need a hygrometer, even for a dry run. If you don't, what would you really learn from the dry run? Make sure you get an analog hygrometer, which can easily be picked up from a cigar shop or eBay for $10-15. During the dry run, tape up holes until you get humidity up to ~99-100% and you should be good to go. GL bro.

Tape every other hole. No need for a hygrometer if you put 4-5 inches of perlite in it.

Mist more. Hygrometers they sell these days are not worth wasting money on. If your substrate dries out after a few days, simply pour water on top to re-hydrate. It will always be humid just above the perlite, which is where the substrates are anyway. I wouldn't tape holes unless there's an actual problem. RR

Man my first 8 tubs i had drilled wayyyyyy too many holes like you did. 2 inches apart. I was getting fruits but they were small. Once i put tape over every other layer of holes i saw an improvement.

Even if you did have a good hygrometer, your humidity will increase when you put substrate in it anyways. So your humidity will be higher on a tub with substate in it compared to it not having substrate in it.
Oysters like more fae anyways. I leave the lid off of my sg when doing oysters.
Your probably fine.
