Some recent harvests

Just thought I will share some recent harvests of different varieties I have done, except these some Lionsman are pinning now, Shiitake 75 has started browning, 3 different Ganoderma Lucidum strains are put to fruiting condition along with a Daldinia strain.

Semi Giant strain of Volvariella Volvacea, they tasted the best and fruited in temps 20 C to 30 C.
A little grown up Volvariella Volvacea of the same strain along with a big bunch of Pleurotus Sajor-kaju var. Pleurotus Pulmonarius.

Last flush of Calocybe Indica, its the third strain of Calocybe I have recently acquired.

An unknown variety of Pleurotus which I got from Tripsis and he got from some forests of India.

Pleurotus Flabellatus, they tasted great I have never grown them earlier but will love to grow some for my family again.
Hope u guys enjoyed the trip, I thank Tripsis for sharing few of these wonderful cultures with me. Cheers Vishal.

Hi Vishal,
nive harvest. I wish I was able to fruit any Volvariella or Calocybe strain here...
Currently your P. pulmonarius var. sajor-caju (perhaps we should just call it indian oyster) is my favourite oyster, as it grows fast, gives a high yield and drops much less spores, compared to other Pleurotus species.
Please keep us updated about the Daldinia and if it turns out to be edible.

Hi Carsten,
Thanks for the appreciation dear.
Can you tell me what problems u faced in cultivation of Volvariella and Calocybe? If temparature is the problem then we can do least about it, I have got an idea of adding something to bed to raise the temps of bed, I will share it with you.
Sajor Kaju is really nice species, I had the culture for around 1 year and finally thought of growing them after u said it is as good as Eryngii. The spore drop was really very less as was told by the scientist from whom I bought it.
Daldinia is a medicinal mushroom as described by Tripsis, I haven't seen them in real except the pictures from Tripsis and on Google. I will surely keep u updated about its growth.
Cheers Vishal.

With Calocybe and Volvariella, I have to try different types of casing soil next summer. During winter I see no chance of a successful fruiting.
Cheers, Carsten

Well for calocybe, I go simple casings like 50%Cocopeat + 50% soil + some caco3 for taking the pH to 8 eg. 1 kg cocopeat+1 kg soil+ 2 table spoon caco3 powder. For Volvariella there is no need of casing it will just fruit like oysters but the bed should have atleast 15 kg straw(dry weight)

OK, I did case the Calocybe with a similar mixture, but no primordia formed. For Volvariella it seems I have to try large amounts of straw. The only primordia I got so far were in a cased culture during summer.

hard luck with Calocybe then, hope u did kept temps above 32 deg C all through the grow of Calocybe(it takes 15 days after casing for pins) and Volvariella. Best of luck for your future grows. Vishal.
