that's my point, many here go against him, you included, ONLY because you don't like him. Logic is totally deflated from your (not you personally) argument when it is apparant that it is personal.
Quote:

oh, absolutly. I'm more mad about our domestic agenda than anything else. He's making the same mistake his dad did by concentrating on the foreign policy too much. The 900 billion (or whatever the price is) for the war can go to help those hard workers in the US by cutting taxes and eliminating needless social programs.
Quote:
The fact that you even post in this forum says otherwise...
you may be right. I guess i do care a little because i find a lot of views to be out-right lies. The "what he said" crowd is great at this. I will say that the US should not make policy primarily by what protests in other countries say.
BTW: this is off topic but here goes. What country do we (the US) get the most oil from? answer to come.

Apparently we did not leave enough depleted Uranium, because Saadam is still alive.
The USA is going to War with IRAQ. The question is would you rather live in America or in Iraq. It is a simple question to answer. Because in reality that is what you are choosing. Do you support Democracy with constitutional protections or do you support Dictatorships. Do you support an Iraq that gets to choose it's own future, or do you support an Iraq that does not.
You can dig up all sorts of Bad behavior by the USA. You can do the same for every country that actively engages in world politics. None of which answers the question asked. Do you feel more comfortable dealing with the USA, or with IRAQ. Would you rather buy US goods, or Iraqi goods. Would you rather sell in America or in Iraq?

What are you saying, America is a better government/ better place to live, all around better country than Iraq; and therefore it is our right- no, moral imperative; to go bomb the fuck out of them without provocation? Wow, talk about a non sequitir...

I completely disagree with the infered link between depleted uranium and cancer. I've personally handled DU artillery shells and so have thousands of US soldiers and there's no change in cancer rates. There's been enough research done to know conclusivly that it's not very toxic at all. DU actually has about the same toxicity as ordinary lead.

The difference is the Iraqis weren't handling intact DU shells - that is perfectly safe.
Since you've handled them, you would know what happens when a DU shell hits a hard surface (like armor, concrete bunker etc) at 5000 ft./sec.
And you would also know that the harm done by exposure to radiation is CUMULATIVE.
Would you want to sit in a sandbox filled with DU dust for 12 years?

Your logic is backwords my friend.
Why would we need to attack countries that we already import oil form? We are attacking Iraq precicely because they are NOT our #1 oil importer - but they soon will be.
And the import volume doesn't motivate conquest. What motivates it is the oil reserves that exist in Iraq, which I believe is the second largest in the world after Saudi Arabia (correct me if I'm wrong).

why import when you can steal?
"did you here that on the BBC?

You misunderstand. The statement "We are attacking Iraq precisely because they are NOT our #1 oil importer" was meant to indicate that we would not attack a country that we import a lot of oil from, not to give a specific reason for attacking.
I believe it's a combination of factors, including oil.

I don't know about the ploughs ... seems kind of implausible.
But we DID bomb retreating peasent soldiers in the infamous "Highway of Death". I'm surprised that they didn't mention the bombing of the bomb shelter(!).

Maybe they were buried in the trenches when the tanks passed over them. It could be based on fact but 6,000 seems a little high.

Explain to me what you think this war is about. Convince me that it has nothing to do with Self determination of the Iraqi people, and their Economic and physical security. Their ability to choose what their lives will become.
The only argument I have heard is that you don't want to kill Innocent Iraqis in the process of Freeing them. No-one supporting war wan'ts to kill innocent Iraqis either. We want Saadam and his Regime. We want him to actually comply with the agreements to disarm. We want him to do this or we will do it for him. He had twelve years to comply. Diplomacy had twelve years to work. Diplomacy only works when all sides are actually doing what they said they will do. The world lived up to it's agreement not to Remove Saadam, he did not live up to the Disarming side of this agreement.
You may be content to turn a blind eye, lift the sanctions, and let him continue to do WHATEVER HE WANTS, at the expense of HIS people. I am not. My president is not, and the majority of Americans are not. America is not alone.

How about....
What Caused WWII?
Appeasement
How many Lives could have been saved, if hitler was forced to comply to the Treaty of Versallies (spelling?) and stopped before Germany even had a Military?
Millions.
Would allowing Iraq to violate treaties it signed, as well as violate U.N. resolution after resolution be Appeasement?
Yes.
Is the Economic situation simular in Iraq as it was in Germany after WWI?
Yes, both are very bad economicly
Are Hitler and Saddam simular?
Yes, they are both Totalitarian Dictators.
I feel bad for the civilians that will be lost in the potential war, but giving a Dictator like Saddam the freedom to break treatys could potentially cause ALOT more harm. EDIT: oh and
Could the U.S. taken all the oil it wanted after the Golf war?
Yes
Did it?
No

That was a very nice blindly patriotic speech but Good Lord..there is so many mistakes in your logic I don't know where to start...Iraq has been bending backwards trying to disarm...yet still Bush pushes for war...Why is the U.S. so concerned with Iraq, when it's own neighbours aren't? Do you sincerely believe that the U.S. is going into Iraq for humanitarian reasons? If you do, then I can't fault you for your beliefs, no matter how naive I think they are.
As for making a better life for it's citizens...The UN sanctions are what made Iraq poor and destitute inthe first place. 12 years ago Iraq was a thriving country and a close 'friend' of the U.S.
You are right about one thing...the U.S. is not alone, but the majority of the world is not blind, and can see the injustice of a pre-emptive strike against Iraq

Did they actually take control of Iraq in the Gulf war?...No, so obviously they can't take oil from a country that they did not control.

I think its quite obvious Saddam cancered his own people.

ok, yeah your logic has gone out the window. how much white house spin have you swallowed? sounds like all of it. you actually believe this war is about helping the iraqi people? that's a laugh, we've done more damage to their people, society, and culture than Saddam could ever do. of course we want the oil.
