What keeps the substrate in one piece so that you can take it out as a "cake"??
Does the mycellium sort of "bond" the substrate together??

yes my man the mycelium grows thur the cake thus holding it to-gether,,,,

yeah man.. you can read about mycelium all you want.. but actually seeing and feeling the stuff teaches you a lot.. my friend just birthed some cakes the other day and i actually got to feel the stuff.. its very rubbery... not at all fragile like i thought it would be.. hope this helps. :smile:
