Humidity in my growcloset

I'm growing weed for three years now. I always been growing in a small closet, 80cm * 52cm * 180cm. For making my clones start well I made humidity higher by having 1cm of water around the pots. So a surface of 80cm *52cm was covered with water. I also place cups of water in my closet, all was enough to make the clones start growing.
Now I have a bigger closet of 82cm * 112cm * 230cm. I have 8 pots of 10liter standing in the closet. I cannot get humidity higher than 50%. Can someone tell me what to do.
I cannot buy a humidifier (too expensive). I can use a temporary terrarium in wich a high humidity climate can be created.
I want other solutions. Who can help me?

get a rubbermaid container roughly the size of the closet, fill it with perlite and put water in it til it comes to about half the level of the perlite, then just place the clones on top of the perlite in their normal containers. Snap the lid on that bitch and you're set. You can even put a clone heating pad unter the container for better results.

That is the solution I wasn't looking for but it is something to discuss about. Do you think perlite releases water better than havin the surface covered with water? Now I already have 1 cm of water covering the groundsurface in the closet. This water can easely evaporate. Is perlite releasing water quicker?
But there should be other way's, shouldn't there? I now am using a quick and not that difficult way. I'm having coke bottles put over my clones. The coke bottles are cut wher they were getting smaller. Than sprayed with water and out over the clones. Within this bottle you have a nice moisty climate. But this is a quick and only once solution.
Your idea of arubbermaid container as big as the closet can also be used smaller.
Using a rubbermaid container 1/2 the size of my closet in the closet with small pots for the clones. In the container I can more easy make the humidity tropical. The air isn't sucked out of the container by the filter so the humidity stay's high.
But i was wondering if humidity can be made higher within my closet without using other equipment.

Why don't you just put some soil into a shoe box and fill that shit with water until the soil is moist (pour some plant food as well) then place some saram wrap (reynolds) on top of it and staple the edges. Place a heating pad under it and keep it on. The mist will come on the plastic wrap and it'll be like a little rainhouse. Let the seeds grow for a couple of weeks and transpalnt it. BAM!!!!!! Magic will flow...

Oh shit of course! I do have a heating pad left from the day's I made shrooms in a non heated room. I put it under my jars and fruiting chamber. I can use this heating pad to vaporise water in a closed environment. That's really something to try out! Thanks for your superb advise. It's good to have several opinions on such a topic. Thanks to you all. I will put up a post how things will work out! As we speak plants are in blooming stage. first week. My friend say's they are now shooting up. In my expierience they should be at maximum hight in a few weeks. I used Santa Maria clones from a local clone supplier. They will be ready after blooming 9-10 weeks. Than we will be able (I hope) to harvest 300-400 grams. We will see! Peace

Why do you want the humidity that high? As far as i can tell, high humidity means low rate of transpiration--> low rate of nutrient/water uptake---> slowed growth. I'm pretty sure optimal humidity is like ~20%

Oh no, optimal RH for clones to get started is 80%. They have yet little roots and cannot take up as much water as they need when RH is about 40%. At that rate they indeed have much water resperation but therefor your plants need a better root system. This climate is needed for only a few day's. If they have formed a bigger root system humidity can be dropped to 40%. That is the optimal RH for plants to grow. After this stage the blooming can be done in a 20% RH climate.

Sorry, I should have paid closer attention. I didn't realize you were trying to root.

Did you try a humidity dome? You can get them in them in taller sizes than normal too. This should solve any humidityt problems you have.

A couple ideas: 1. Warm (best) or cool mist humidifier 2. Put a fish bubbler with an air stone into a jar or bucket of water. The larger stones put off a lot of humidity. In combination with a heating pad or fish heater, it works very well. 3. Perlite in a shoebox with some 3% h2o2 to prevent mold or algae growth. Perlite's porous structure means that it simultaneously wicks moisture. The surface area releases the humidity into the air.
These don't come into contact with your plants and won't grow pests better than your plants like with open, stagnant (non-moving) water. Peace Flat

you will only need high humidity cloning, or starting seedlings. just put a clear plastic covering or dome lid on top of your growing containers, spray a few mists of water in on the clear covering. when its cold i put the flats on a heated propogation tray. remember heat + water = good humidity...

Glad to have my original loginname back. Legionella will grow if temperature is getting near to 30-40 degrees Celcius. If a person vaporises the water, the legionella will get into the persons lungs when inhaling this damp. Very very very baaaaaaaad. The person will die!
And we don't want this to happen to us.
