Reishi - 4lb Bags & Monos[Failure]

On Nov 25th I made my decision to start my first experiments with reishi. That day I made 4 Pint jars of finch seed and inoculated them with agar wedges to get things going. My plan was to expand those 4 pints into at least 10L of spawn.
Pictured here is 2 of the 4 pints colonized:

Dec 7th came around and all 4 jars were colonized. At this time I made up 7L of grain spawn. I had to add a bit of verm to the jars as the WBS mix I recently purchased is TERRIBLE and tends to get to sticky and wet if I do not add verm. I then made my G2G transfer using 2 pints to go to 7L.

After talking with a friend I made the choice to spawn my last 2 pints of colonized reishi spawn to saw dust in filter patch bags. I made roughly 4lb bags using lipa's pasteurization tek.

I will keep this thread updated with progress. I plan to fruit inside the bags to get antlers as I do not want to experience the massive spore load im told comes along with growing conks.
As my 7L of spawn colonizes I have visions of a reishi mono perhaps. Only time will tell!

In Base Icks Reishi thread he post a link to someone who did a big reishi mono: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9958849#9958849
I am sure you have seen it, but for those who have not ^.
I am doing this grow to get my feet wet with medicinal wood lovers and hope to learn a lot through out this process. Seeing as I am after antlers I figure a reishi tub would not be a bad idea, and give me the most bang for my buck. Thinking of doing a sawdust cardboard mix perhaps. Time will tell.

The reishi mycelium is starting to recover inside the sawdust bags. I will most likely have a picture updates of the bags as well as my G2G jars tomorrow afternoon when I find the time. Going to start the planning phase on my reishi mono soon. Might split it into two smaller tubs, not sure yet.

Update:
Dec 12th:
Here is a few pictures of the 4lb bags with the reishi mycelium starting to recover onto the sawdust.

As well here are a few pictures of the progress on my second gen grain spawn jars.

Dec 13th:
The bags are coming along nicely. Not worth taking a picture update but they are well on the way I believe.
My grain spawn jars got a shake at around 30-40% on Friday Dec 10th. Today, Dec 13th about 6 of my 1L jars are colonized and there is one jar lagging behind just slightly. Here is a picture. The 7th grain jar is not pictured as I might be expanding it further (G2G).

I will be starting my Reishi Mono project here in the next few days. I want to do two smaller tubs instead of one big tub, and will be hammering out the details and procedure tomorrow. I will start up a new thread for that when it is time.
Enjoy!

I thought about keeping it together but did not want to get this thread to jam packed with projects. I think its fair to say that since this is my first time growing reishi I could easily keep it all in this thread. All works out the same in the end.
P.S This is the same Reishi culture that you have in your possession.

Update:
Dec 14th:
The bags are colonizing nicely as far as I can tell. Condensation is building up on the inside of the bag but I assume this is normal. Here are some pictures:

Its hard to tell from the pictures but the mycelium looks like it is starting to get a really good foothold on the sawdust.
Also did some prep work for the reishi mono tub. Here is some pictures
5L Reishi Spawn

35lbs of pasteurized sawdust

In a tote with a towel to keep in heat

I plan to spawn it tomorrow and will have more pictures for everyone!

Pepper: I am pretty sure both types of bags I have a few of are .02 micron.
UPDATE: Dec 15th 2010
Here is some pictures of the 4LB reishi sawdust blocks. As you can see they are really taking off now.

Also got around to spawning my Reishi Mono's today! I made two tubs, a 55L mother mono, and a 15L baby mono.

55L Tub - 3.96lbs(5L) Grain Spawn > 15Lbs pasteurized sawdust

15L Tub - 1L Grain Spawn > 4lbs pasteurized sawdust

I still have one filter patch bagged filled with pasteurized sawdust that I plan to hold onto for a few days till my Shiitake grain is ready to be spawned. I must say it is very easy to bite off more then you can chew in this hobby, so many mushrooms to grow, so little time!

The monos are sure to be amazing! Do you plan on keeping them closed to get antlers or will you try to get conks? I'm also very interested to see what's this reishi strain like, I'm already piling up cardboard and paper waste for a mono bucket.

Ain't that the truth! I ran out of space to put all the jars and bags on! I just checked, I have 10 different species on grain ATM, with at least 4 more on the way!

I plan on going for antlers to avoid the massive spore load. As far as the specific strain I am told that it LOVES light.
