Nikon CoolPix L110

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I value the opinions of you guys much more than any other forum, especially since fungal macro pics are my main focus. If this is a problem, please feel free to move it. I have read other reviews of it and heard good things, but I want to know how y'all feel.
Anyone have the Nikon Coolpix L110? Any thoughts or feelings or reviews about/of it? I was using the coolpix L20 and it was great for a point and shoot, and most of my photos were taken with that camera. I imagine this one has to be at least as good as that one.
Thanks!

How much does it cost? Sorry, I don't know anything about it, I'm a Canon fan, but I'm sure it will be great, most cameras today, even the cheapest ones, make beautiful photos. My only suggestion would be to consider a DSLR if it's in your price range, some of the macro lenses out there are amazing! But as I said, with anything you buy today, you can be sure you'll get great photos!

I looked at some reviews and some pictures taken with the Nikon CoolPix L100. It takes good macro photos and all the pictures i looked at were very detailed with little noise. If you go to flickr.com and type in the camera name you can view photos taken with the L100.
One of the downsides for some people was there are not many manual mode options. Sometimes it was hard to focus the camera in macro mode.
Im gonna upgrade to a dslr soon. I am thinking about the Canon rebel t2i 550D. The macro lens i want is 1000$ though.

I don't have the money for a real SLR yet, but plan on shelling out a lot of money on a professional quality one in the next year.
This one is normally $279, but is on sale for $201.
I like Canon a lot too. My other Nikon broke after I used the hell out of it, and I am using an old Canon right now. It still takes great pics despite being on Ebay for $5-9. Here are a couple:

Go with the fujifilm finepix s1800. Better camera for a better price, IMO. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830122269 Shoots just like a DSLR style camera. 18X zoom... incredible camera, not as hyped but just as good.

Have you used them both? It is good to know, but this one is already ordered for me as a Christmas present. I am insanely excited.
All the macro photos I saw on Flickr were astounding, and I saw some nice review videos on Youtube as well.
I'm going crazy with this old Canon!!!

That is a great price IMO. Macro shots look great, and you have 15X zoom already in, always comes handy. With SLRs you always need a different lens then the one you got on atm. I'm sure you won't be disappointed! But, it's not everything in the camera, if you know nothing about photography, you can have a $2000 SLR and still take crap photos. Or, as proven here, you can have a "bad" camera and take amazing ones. Which old Canon is that taken with? I still have my old A510, now most phones have more MPx than it, but the photos it makes are still great.

I have a Canon Finepix A345. It still takes great pics, and I agree that it isn't just the camera. The Canon shoots good enough, but I have to be like 5 inches away for macro to focus and with the new Nikon I can be .4 inches or something.
The Canon is 4.1 MP or something, but still shoots beautifully:

I am quite serious about photography (my mushroom pics may beg to differ ), so I know a fair amount about the cameras out there and how they perform.
I currently shoot most of my mushroom pics with an Olympus 1030sw, mainly because it is small, very durable (shock and waterproof up to 10m) and I got it for almost half retail. I am really not very impressed with its performance though, it has some issues focusing, especially in low light conditions, which is not good for mushroom pics. On top of that there is no manual focus. Also, its pics are not very sharp, although some have turned out quite well.
For serious photography I use a Canon 40D, which is amazing. It takes excellent photos, but I rarely use it for mushroom pics because it is big, bulky and gets in my way. It is significantly better than its predecessors the 10D, 20D and 30D. There is now a 50D and 60D, but they are not much better than the 40D unless you need lots of megapixels or need to take HD video. I do intend on buying a 5D Mark II within a year or so as it is a fucking amazing camera, which is even an understatement.
As far as point and shoots go, there are a lot of good ones out there. I have friends who use Nikon point and shoots that take stunning pictures. I am a big Canon fan, but I don't think that the Canon point and shoots are nearly as good as what Nikon has though. As far as SLRs go, Nikon and Canon both have great options, but I like the Canons are better and you can get good quality Canon glass for less than good quality Nikon glass.
Now that I got my little rant out of the way, I will answer your question. As far as the Nikon CoolPix L110 or other similar cameras that attempt to bridge the gap between the point and shoots and the SLRs go, I'm really not a fan of them. There are point and shoots out there that take as good pictures for less money and they are smaller so they don't get in the way of gathering mushrooms because they can fit in your pocket. They also lack one of the main reasons to buy an SLR, interchangeable lenses. Being able to change your lens lets you adapt your camera to any photography situation to take anything from super macro pics to super telephoto pics. They also have a significantly smaller image sensor than the SLRs do which makes a big difference in image quality.
I could keep going, but I'll try to wrap this up. If you are only worried about taking mushroom pictures but don't intend on picking many mushrooms, the Nikon CoolPix L110 would be a good camera for you. If you do intend on picking mushrooms and don't want a bulky camera to get in your way, buy the best Nikon point and shoot you can afford. If you want to get serious about photography and take pictures of things besides mushrooms, or want to take stellar mushroom pics and don't care about your camera interfering with gathering mushrooms, save up for a nice Canon SLR, they rock. You can get used 40Ds for a few hundred dollars if you look in the right places. Once you do buy an SLR, you will inevitably start a lens collection which will last forever, so when you want a camera upgrade, you only need to buy a new body. Good glass costs more than a new body anyways.

It's a great camera, huh? Especially for the price! Only thing is the screen looks a little grainy at times, but once you focus in that will go away. Takes AMAZING pictures! .. sometimes if the picture appears f'd up on the screen preview, upload the pictures to your computer. That will often fix the "grainy picture" problem i've read about.
