Monuments of our greatness.
    #1360289 - 03/09/03 01:04 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I just smoked a bowl and saw a program about the pyramids and it got me thinking.

We should pool the resources of the world together and build the most awesome most gigantic monument in the universe.
The final testament to the greatness and ingenuity of the human race. A monument of such grand scale that it would rival our very creation. So awesome that it would shake the very foundation of the earth. So robust that it would survive the end of time itself.

On this monument we would have the combined knowledge of the entire world scribbled upon it. Any man could write his life story on this monument so that he would be remembered for all eternity.

Millions of years from now when the earth is nothing but dust alien could visit our planet and marvel at our genius and our will to be remembered. Thousands of civilizations earthbound or alien could bask in the awesome might and splendor of that we humans had created.

Never let them forget our names.

I like your idea - we could call it the Tower of Babel.

Howabout a giant spaceship that people can live on, like the Death Star......exept without the Death stuff associated with it.

Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

That sounds way cool, but..

I think if we ever get the motivation to " pool " toghether the resources of the earth, and combine them with the amazing abilities of humanity, we should use them to create a utopian society.
Then we could really call ourselves great!

The act speaks for itself remebered or not.

The entire world is a mess, so any material monument would state this moumental chaos..... world peace would be the greatest monument, it can last as long as we could keep it, so it could last forever.
... and it's cheaper.

How about that mountain they hollowed out in Nevada to hold all the nuclear waste (apache mountain)? oh wait.... I guess that's not too good but is appropriate as it is going to stick around a while.......
