last night we found some mushrooms which were quite small, glowed in the dark and were quite sticky. found in brisbane, australia. id like to know what they are, even though i doubt they are of the "magicus" variety. thanks, oh yea, growing in dirt too.

could you give a little more info? i'm not familiar with many luminescent mushrooms, but i think some details will be needed.

sorry, i dont know if i can give much more info, we foudn them a at a party while we went behind the dudes house and into the bush which had a creek runnign through it. it was very dark and we just picked them, said very cool, and then chucked them. we wont be going back there. the scent was pretty ordinary, no real smell to it but that may be because it was very small, possibly a juvenile. thin stem with a semi-wide but not tall cap. glows all over and sticky all over, like, VERY sticky

There aren't very many species of luminescent mushrooms in the US.
Your description sounds most like Mycena galericulata, one of the most common Mycenas. They are not noted for being sticky.
The other luminescent US species I know of are Armillaria mellea, Omphalotus olearius, and Panellus stipticus. None of these is noted for having a narrow stem, and with the Armillaria the mushrooms don't glow, just the mycelium.
Hope that's somewhat helpful.
Happy mushrooming!

remember, were talking australia here. i looked at the Mycena galericulata and it did look alot like that, and it couldve been growing on a loose piece of bark on the ground. but it was sticky, and im pretty sure it was supposed to be sticky, not sticky through an outside source. mystery eh, i thought it was a special one but not an unidentifiable one.
