The story about the person recieving no effects from lsd is bullshit. LSD creates a biological effect, thats not something you can control. That would be like giving the guy anthrax and him not being effected by it. He would have everything to benefit from denying that it effected him.
I am sure he felt it. But it is definately different than giving someone anthrax. You can reach a point of consiousness where you can completely control the trip. I have been there on LSD, although it was after the first part of the trip which was scarry as hell. If a buddhist monk has enough practice with concentration I am sure they can control it a lot better than I did.

Well it all depends on the amount of receptor sites avaible(5-htp) , could be that mediataion reduces these numbers which means even high doses of lsd wont work.

Perhaps that's why it's commonly assumed that it takes years of meditation to become enlightened.
From my own perspective, I think that being skilled at meditation is probably like typing on a keyboard. Years ago I struggled with typing, and now I can type faster than anyone can talk. I can type faster than I can think. It's such a natural motion that my hands seem to do it without my conscious volition.
Meditation should be like that. At first you struggle, then one day out of nowhere you can do it without trying. Continuing, daily practice only enhances the skill once you have it. You can show off. Perhaps it's due to receptor restructuring, perhaps not. I'm not sure exactly how physical behaviors like typing can be learned because it's such a mental activity. For some reason I can't grasp that.
Winston Churchill said that the conscious act of bringing one's mind back to the subject at hand, again and again, is a skill of the highest order.

Depends if you think meditation and psychedelics work by the same process. My opinion is that they produce very different brain effects.

I think you're right.
Interestingly though, for a while before the new year I meditated for twenty minutes every morning, and toward the end of the first week of practice I experienced visuals. Strobing vision, extra-sharp depth perception, faces in random fields (like cottage-cheese ceilings), that kind of weirdness.

Vipassana is very fusion and effective method for occidental people. Recommended if you have some weekend med session things. Basically Meditation is Small illumination. DMT trip, I can say big illumination actually. N +

i've been able to control my tripping a little lately. like on some recent mushroom/acid trips i was able to stop tripping mentally, and on one trip i was able to just turn off the visuals.
also i once for like 5 minutes was able to make myself trip last week, but the visuals were pretty forced, like i had to sort of mentally make things move.
