Too much water in cake?
    #1358258 - 03/08/03 02:13 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Hi, all I been reading for a few months and have been trying to do this, my question is i got everything done with the jars, But I think I might have put too much water in the recipe. Can this hurt? It looks like mycelum, but it just looks a little wet. I started 5 days ago and i would say this one jar is about 60% done. Should I just wait a while and see if it will work? Also can you re use the 1/2 pint jars? They are kinda expencive after a while. Thanks in advance.

Of course you can reuse your jars. If anything is a problem you can flip your jars.

Jars can be resterilized after you remove your cakes from them. Did you use brown rice flour and vermiculite for your jars or something else?

did you tape the holes when you pressure cooked the jars because sometimes you can waterlog a few of the jars that way...im going to guess that the jars you have that have a bit too much H20 in them you should prolly let leave in incubation a few days longer than most so the cake does not come out too soggy.

yeah i did have tape as well as foil, I was reading other topics and i think i know what my problem was, I filled the pc half way full, and the boiling water prolly got inside because i left the tops a bit loose.

As long as the mycelium looks healthy and is growing at a steady pace, don't worry about it.

Jars can be re-used. My friend cleans them by first rinsing them in hot water, then scrubbing them with H202.

The real question is how much extra water can get into a jar before its no good my bird had a jar that got water logged and he injected 1 cc into it then when he looked at the jar just tossed it in a bucket with some junk but then the other day he landed on it to rest and the jar was 40% colonized hehe the room temp was around 62-65 degrease

Well another thing I just though of, I had 4 syringes, and 10 jars. Now I have no syringes and no jars left, so I put way too much cc's in them. I'm just a plain dumbass. I think why I did that I did a few PR a while back with only 1cc and it never worked. Over 2 months and maybe only 5% done, and these I did on the 6th look very white all around. I'll just wait and see, I have em at 89 Degree's also. All but 1 is going real nice. Thanks for all your help, Reading all this is easyer than atually doing it. I was just prolly in a hurry, I donno I cant remember. I shoud prolly stick with buying drugs instead of making/growing, but hell its a hobby with a reward, peace..
