Hiking advice
    #13576127 - 12/03/10 01:31 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

So I need to go away for a bit to regain my bearings.  I've decided on a weeklong hike during my winter break.

So I'm looking for trails that take roughly a week to complete (at lets say 10-15 miles per day) within a relatively short distance of Philadelphia, PA.

PA is rocky so mountains are fine, though flat might be better for what I'm looking for.  I'm not picky though.  Anyone know any good trails for this time of year in the area?  Willing to drive maybe 3 hours out, bonus points if its a loop that takes me bak to my own car, but I can get a ride if I need to.

Thanks.

I've done the PA portion though.  I'm up for something new.  It's my backup, but I wanted to see if there were any other good trails around that I'm not aware of.

At first glance I thought you were looking for tips on "how to hike" as if you were inexperienced.  I was about to tell you not to jump in too deep, especially in winter, without any hiking skills or experience.  But I'm assuming, upon a second look, that you have the skills and equipment necessary to do it right.  So I hope you find some great trails and have some quality time to yourself to sort out lifes problems.  God knows (and I don't even believe in God) that I've found the most peace and solace in life by spending time alone in the wilderness.

As for your dilemma, I'm sorry that I cannot help.  I don't know shit about anything East of the Rockies.  I just wish you well on your adventures.
