ok i got my entire set up ready to go and three in the ter. but i think the temp is to high.. This is caused by the light that i have running for about 12 hours a day.. my question is .. could i possibly reduce the amount of light they are recieving so that the temperature stays cooler more often??

get one of those night light bulbs and a cord from the craft section in k-mart or wal mart
they work good + they make little to no heat.

Yes. 12 hours is much more light than is needed. You can get by with less than 1 hour.

Unlike plants, the mushrooms do not need light to produce food. They simply use light as a trigger to pin and as an indicator for which direction to grow. I have read about people using Christmas tree lights (very low wattage) with no problems. I know for fact that a fourty watt reading lamp works just fine.

Yes, you can cold shock in the fridge, or put them in cold water.
