Marijuana Stolen From Highway Patrol Office
POSTED: 10:51 a.m. EST March 7, 2003
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Authorities say someone took 500 pounds of marijuana from the evidence room at the state Highway Patrol office on U-S 301 in Fayetteville.
Lawmen say someone shattered a window in a door at the back of the building, then broke into the evidence room.
Highway Patrol spokesman Sergeant Everett Clendenin says an employee discovered the break-in yesterday morning.
Dozens of marijuana bricks with a street value of about $500,000 were taken.
Clendenin says the drugs were sezied by officers with the Division of Motor Vehicles during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in December.

I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't the cops that stole the drugs. Who else knew that there was 500 pounds of bud sitting in the locker? Who else would be brazen enough to break into a police station to steal drugs!?

Actually I don't think the state has a case with no evidence. You can't prosecute someone for possession of 1 ounce of pot without the pot, yet alone 500 pounds. I hope the poor slob walks now.
