Nothing is Happening...
    #1355292 - 03/06/03 05:10 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Hey ppl... I'm just wondering how long it takes most ppl beofe they see any difference to their inoculated jars.

I inoculated mine 12 days ago, and i see nothing at all forming, not even any form of contamination... could this mean that my spores are bunk?  Or will it normally take this long/longer before seeing any results?  The spores used were aproximately 4mths old of the Mexicana variety PC, if that has anything to do with it...

Thanks for any replies

12 days is awful long. My friend usually sees growth in 5.

usually when it's too wet it won't colonize at all. Is the growth slow becouse of it being overly wet?I don't really know of a way to dry a jar thats too wet except for maybe a small plug-in heater, but don't get it too close though.
you might have to start over.

If they're PF-tek jars, I can't see a way to have them significantly dry without opening them, which would mean much higher risk for contamination - but of course, if they're not doing anything, perhaps doing this in a glovebox and keeping the incubator extra-extra-sterile would help some of the water evaporate. Then again, I don't see this happening, because the water's pretty deep throughout the cakes.

I just spoke with father. He says I'll get out alive, but you're fooked.

Doesn't sound good.

I never have jars that take over 3 to 7 days to start.

What type of substrate did you use?
BRF/Verm cakes (PF cakes) ??

Did you follow a tek?

Did you put the jars in an incubator?
Where the jars kept in 80 to 86 degrees F. ?

We need more info to help you find out where you went wrong.
