Can you pressure cook polyfil?

I want to do some 1pint jars with birdseed. I want to plug a 3/8in hole on top with polyfil to allow for good air exchange. Do I put the polyfil in before I pressure cook or after? If after, do I need to sterilize it somehow? Thanks.

Put it in before, just make sure that you cover it with aluminium foil when you pressure cook.

You can pressure cook it with no problems... just keep it from touching the lid or side of the cooker. You want to put the polyfil in before you sterilize, not after.
