Mycilium is poking through casing after only 18 hours
    #1354393 - 03/06/03 09:42 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Mycilium is poking through the casing layer after only 18 hours. How long should I wait until I patch it? Its only in tiny spots should I wait until it spreads some or just patch it as it goes, until its all even. I am sorry I have never patched before the help would be nice thanks.

if it were me, i would not patch but birth. that's what i do every time. but that's me.

if some day i was convinced that patching is a good idea, i would patch as mycelium became visible.

This guy I know only has experience patching in your situation. He would patch those spots and wait a while. This might create a more even pin set.

Based on the logs of SWIM, I'd patch as well, but that's just my opinion. Patching seems to have worked well for them, as it really does create an even pinset. Think about it, you could fruit it and have pins in only a few places, or you could patch, wait a few days, and then have pins coming from many more places. That said, if you want to just throw it in the fruiting chamber, I'm sure that wouldn't have a devestating effect, so go for it.

only 18 hrs. ?
i wouldn't even look at until after 48 . then, just patch with a thin layer on the areas that have heavy cottony growth that looks like it might overlay .
unless it's PR, then you should fruit it now .

Does that mean it sounds like mold?

No its not cobweb or any contamination I have ever seen. It is deffinitally mycilium without a doubt. I have done many casings before so I know what it looks like I just never have patched before and Im about to in like 15 minutes.
