here is my opinion of which i have no proof: if you pick the cap right at the time that it is developing spores (not necesarily dropping them) it will continue to develop spores for a short period of time (most likely when available moisture and nutrients hit a critical low point) but not necessarily drop them. if you pick a cap that already has spores and the veil is open I have profound proof that it will drop those spores, hence spore prints.

the cap will attempt to produce more spores as long as it can, but nothing significant. spores will continue to be dropped though, especially as the gills dry out.

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

i beleive, atleast in the case of gymnopilus species and P. cyanescens they will.
this is based upon instances where specimens wich where not sporulating when picked did so in the refrigerator by the next day. it dose not seem to be the norm, but it seems that it can happen.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
