    #1351949 - 03/05/03 06:54 AM (21 years, 29 days ago)

AFOAF has these jars and they won't finnish. They are at 80% but the bottom will not finnish. What should He do?

This guy I know believes flipping the jars in this scenario to be very helpful.

r you using brown rice flower cakes or grain?
grain can be shaken to distribute the mycilium but if your doing regular pf tek than the best thing i know to do is turn the jars upside down that as helped me when i was doin cakes and if that dont work just wait hope that helps

try flipping the jar over... hopefully that will help. When growth halts towards the bottom of the jar it's usually an indication of too much water in the substrate.

I assume you refering to BRF cakes ?

If so I've found if you turn the jars bottoms up and tap them into your hand so the substrate pulls away from the bottom of the jar and then leave the jar flipped it promotes faster growth.

Really?? :frown: Afoaf's jars have had that problem, he flipped 'em, but that didn't help too much, there's still a quarter-sized or so spot on his jars.  He noticed that whereas before, when the mycelium was colonizing, there was condensation on the sides of the jars, but now there's no visible water whatsoever, so just today he injected a little sterile water in the cakes..... He said the cakes looked dry and yellow from mycelial piss.
