Sweet finds man. That's some awesome habitat
-------------------- Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

Excellent finds! I can't wait to get my prints to start working on them over here. Love the rhizomorphic growth on that one shot!
Cheers

I know i see oak, maple, and beech trees. Are they found in the floodplain of that brook or up top? Any particular trend you found in where they are fruiting?

They grow in the flood plain, that first habitat pic is where they're starting to spread out to.They were not found at this spot last year.

Now here's a pic from up stream where they love it.There used to be mulch beds all thru this spot, its been abandoned for the last 10 years probably and its perfect for them.In the fall season they seem to sprout up thru the river rock that was left from years ago and in the open grass, not finding to many in the beds though.

great finds, ive been going nuts looking for them in the fall, its really been breaking my mind.
does the water need to be running yearly?
do people find new patches in the fall. or do you just return to the pathes already found in the spring?

Yeah the season is about done,i was surprised to find these but the temps were just right the last few days, start looking in mid to late april next year. This is an existing patch and the lil guys are actually spreading further down the stream every year . And Ive always found them by rivers or creeks in flood zones, occasionally in peoples mulch beds.

So i went out Friday morning to the same area, but went another 100 some yards further up the creek toward higher ground to investigate.I found only a few,but it was at least 25 degrees overnight and was still about 33 degrees when i was there. It was cold! I cant wait till spring gets here to see how far these guys will make it up this creek, high expectations!

  Frost bitten cap,
All in all it was a good season, not as great as last year but no complaints. And as long as the weather here is ovoidiriffic,i will be out there.Looking forward to the next season, and best of luck to all the fellow ovoid hunters, cant wait!

looks like sweet habitat!! pic 3 is a beauty, i love the shape of the cap!! i wish more of our actives were in the woods like that. lately i have been picking a cyan patch right on the busiest street in town with tons of cars going by. its really kinda lame. thats why i am taking so many prints and not feeling bad about taking a bunch of stem butts. i was going to really get into pelliculosa picking but its been fuckin snowing for 2 days.
