I'm under the impression that you want as many threads as possible.
So just buy the sheets with the most threads.

What's the best place to buy this shit?

Places like Sears, where they sell beddings. I got a really nice set a few years back day after Xmas. $300 set for like $80. Sheets are nice if they are Egyptian cotton, 600 thread count. Dual sided comforters are nice for looks sake.

I'm no expert, but don't get light-colored, high thread count sheets. I decided to be fancy and buy some high threadcount grey sheets, but wha I didn't know is that they absorb oil and whatnot superfast. I'm a superclean person, but after using them for a few months, and washing them on a regular basis, I still ended up with big dark spots where I sleep. I was then told by a friend that that is normal. I'm now back to using my cheap old black sheets that show lovestains but not oil

Get an earthing sheet.
http://www.shop.earthing.net/
I know firsthand that they work, haven't bought one yet but I've used a friend of mine's sheet for the past while. Knee pain's gone, I sleep way better, and I swear it's warmer and cozier with this than regular sheets. Plus it's too cold now to walk barefoot like I did in the summer (snowed here today) so having the sheet keeps me grounded, literally.

They have the best comfortors and sheets. So comfortable. My entire bed set up is from IKEA.
Also at a good price.

I'm excited that the IKEA store in Denver will be opening up about two months before I get married and need to furnish a house. Fuck yeah good timing.

If you can find bamboo sheets, get them. They're so soft it's incredible. I'm not sure if you have a thread count choice with bamboo, but 600 is usually a good bet.
As far as comforters goes, I have a Nautica microfiber comforter. It is amazingly warm for how thin it is.

If you're going to get a down comforter, get a duvet to cover it.
