As mentioned in some of my other threads, I am using LED Super Ribbon lighting as my primary lighting system. After having great success using this lighting for my first grow (complete grow log to be posted soon) I decided to try installing some on the inside of a monotub as well as in a hybrid MSG.
Here are a few pictures from construction so you can see how I put it together. The type of LED lighting I’m using is non-waterproof (leftover from another project), in order to make it waterproof I had to insert it into a silicone sleeve which is what you see in the pictures. Chances are the type of waterproof lighting you get will come already assembled so I’ve left those pictures out.
As a sidenote: when ordering this type of lighting, most manufacturers will cut it to your specifications, which would eliminate most of the legwork seen in these images. I decided to use tie-straps to secure the strips to the top of the lids, figuring that over time moisture would cause 3M tape to let go.

I decided to use a quick-connect plug for easy connecting and disconnecting of the power feed to the monotub. I had to drill a hole and feed that through to the LED strip on the inside of the lid.

Then I marked the drill holes for my tie straps.

Then I drilled the holes.

Next, I inserted the tie straps.

After cinching the tie straps tight, I clipped the excess off with a pair of wire cutters.

I used a piece of wiring to run power from one LED strip to the other and again used tie straps to tighten it up a bit. Could have made the wire a bit shorter but oh well.

Then I stepped back to take a look at my creation.

I decided to test out the lids, this wasn’t the first time I tested them though. You should test the wiring throughout the construction process to ensure everything is working nicely before you strap it in, etc.

Finally I applied some Loctite Instant Gasket (overkill – silicone would work nicely but this is what I had handy) to seal up the holes in the lid. The idea being I wanted to make the lid into a lid again – no drafts or holes.

There we have it. After allowing a week or so for the sealant to dry, I spawned to the monotub at a 1:2 ratio. Spawn is WBS, strain is GT, substrate is pasteurized CCVG. I sealed up the monotub in a black garbage bag for 16 days, opening every few days for gas exchange.
Here is what the tub looks like today with the lights finally turned on:

And here are a couple shots of my hybrid MSG (Sterilite #1896):

I have a feeling I exposed that one to fruiting conditions too early, but either way I am still learning.
Comments and feedback appreciated.
