Microwave Millet???
    #1347288 - 03/02/03 03:35 PM (21 years, 1 month ago)

"I put 1 lb of millet into a bowl, poured boiling water over it.
Let it soak for 24 hours. Then microwaved for 2 mins waited
2 mins, microwaved 2 mins until it had had 6 mins.
Then drained it put it in jars and steamed for 1 hour
Left over night to cool and then inoculated "

A flyin space coyote got this Info from a post on this site awhile ago.
He was wondering if the WBS(mostly Millet) has to be put through a coffee grinder/peper grinder and  mix with Verm?

If verm is needed how much?
Is the water content differnt if its ground?
(the millet water content is 14% according to the bag )

Plus his PC is busted so he thinks hes gonna try a couple jars like this.

PS: Is there anything else he need to know.

I don't know whether or not it's a good idea to grind millet, but it is a good idea (once colonized) to either case it or use it to spawn bulk substrate.

Don't grind it up. If you do it will clump togethar unless you use verm. Just use straight millet. I am pretty sure that you dont even need to boil it. You can nuke it for 2 min x 3 every day for 3 days in a row.

What would be the difference in just nuken it 9 times in one day?

And i do have verm so i think im gonna grind up one jar and put 1/4 verm 3/4 WBS
and post my results compared to the strait WBS.

Verm would be a must if you were planning on fruiting without casing. But if you want to case, which I recommend, you are okay just using the whole kernal.

The method is called fractional distillation. It's like luring the turtle out of it's shell. First if the first heating didnt destroy all of the contams the end spores will germinaten and then be killed on the second heating or the third.

the method described at he top of this thread works, but he is a vary talented cultivator .  :smile:another way to do whole grain is  fractional sterilization
if grinding millet or bird seed, use standard pf tek 3/4 verm 1/4 grain  :smirk:
with this method 90 min. steaming will do .
