Growing From Dried Mushrooms

Hey, a friend of mine was wondering if anyone out there has ever been successful in spawning mushrooms from a dried one. He recently got some of the best (dried) mushrooms he has ever tripped on, and wanted to try cloning one. If this is possible, any tips would be appreciated. He is an intermediate to advanced grower, and has made his own spore syringes and the like. Thanks.

Dried mushroom tissue is dead mushroom tissue - I doubt it'd work.

Take a sample of gill and cult it on agar. You'll see some spore germination and can pick out the mycelium that look the healthiest. You can transfer to another plate or you can transfer to a jar with your substrate of choice, sterilized of course.

You could also use it to spawn honey water for jar innoculation with a syringe.

put some caps in a sterile container with some distilled water, shake shake shake and suck up into a syringe. should pick up some spores, and a hell of a lot of other stuff, high risk of contams, but if one jar survives then i guess it would have been worth it.

cloning no . :frown: but, it might be possible to shake a few spores loose  :smirk:
you would have to treat them as a wild spore print .
