alfalfa is a type of plant, hay, if i got it right, is just a buncha kinds of anything that will grow all bailed up, that what it was when i used to bail hay, in muh younger days

maybe i worded it wrong, but still when i was a ranch hand, and was helping a farmer bail plants for his cows, it didnt seem like there was a specific type of thing that was planted or whatever, just grass, and all kinds of crap

I've raised goats, rabbits, and my family owns quite a bit of ranch land in AZ. They also own farm land and grow HAY during the winter months to feed their cattle, raised for beef stock. Their hay fields are composed of alphalpha, plus some indigenous weeds and leftover crop, which would be whatever was produced in fall.
The goal of a hay grower is to have as much alphalpha in the crop as possible. Sorry guys, don't know what's in your hay, but hay out here should be alphalpha.

let me take it down a notch here.
I don't mean to start a flame war.
It just seems that I come into this forum
and see a lot of unfounded and ill advised
suggestions being handed out on a whim
by folks that don't seem to really know
what they are talking about.
People do this for many reasons...some
good folks simply want to help, others want
to beef up their post count.
It makes me think back to fugu, fugu was
the dude from the eastern block, right?
I remember anno got on him one night
because he was answering agar culture
questions when he had just one day prior
himself been asking similar, elementary
culture questions.
the point being, it's better to speak from
experience than it is to regurgitate information
that you've pulled from here and there.
whether or not the original source is valid,
it all boils down to the 'pass it on' type of
scenario, where, at every step in the chain,
information can potentially become skewed,
misinterpreted or otherwise compromised.
this is especially true when dealing with stoners.

Ok well youlive some were different as there are no wild alphalpha plants in the uk i think.So our alphalpha hay comes as pure alphalpha plants and is farmed as such or imported.But our normal hay is just long grasses and medow plants.
I still think it will work out ok  i may try it my self i have a bail for chicken feed.
But if you do a grow ill wait and watch lol.
We in the uk use fresh alphalpha in water and stewed as a organic plant fertiliser and its good stuff.I think ive read articals that show it to be a full nutrient solition for plants and totaly organic so its got to be worth a try.
every one else chill its just questions and answers i though what mike said about like this place as a good vibe for this thread so chill.

Hay is more of a generic term...it falls under regions...in the south hay generaly contains wheat and alfalfa, as well as grasses and other weeds...it's just filler for livestock....most landscape companies and home improvement stores carry 'hay' in some form...the bulk of it being wheat straw....
