Looks good. I've got a fan mounted on the top left side of the unit, like so:

Inside view:

You can see the fan in the background of this pic:

I have the humidifier sitting in the bottom of the cabinet:

My intakes are along the bottom of the cabinet, right where the humidifier is. I had originally planned on putting them all the way up the sides, but I figured it would work a little better (negative pressure wise), with intakes only on the bottom.

The Green Bastard said: Hey Roaddog what did you do to the inside of the cabinet on the left? It looks as if you taped black plastic to the inside walls, and you don't have anything encasing your lighting fixtures? Forgive me but it seems like it should be a fire hazard to have something like that in a 95% humidity enviroment.
Can't wait to see those trays fruiting away in there
well I used this spray lamanent adhesive to glue the plastic to the inside of the cabinet. I really used alot, trying to get it sealed, because the cabinet is made of fiberboard. I also used alot of gorilla glue duct tape, to tape all the seams. Also you are not the first person to comment on my lights being a fire hazard. I use a special kind of tape to tape up the ends of my extension cords. so water cannot get into the plug. I have used these lights for years, and so far so good. Also I use an in line breaker system, that will shut the lighting system down, with very little resistance.

the reason I have my exhaust at the bottom, is Co2 is heaver than air, so the co2 naturally drops to the bottom of the box, where my fan can suck it out. The intake air is at the top, because it allows a natural convection, to occur, where bad air goes out the bottom, and good air inters the top, like a giant monotub system.I am afraid your fan is sucking out good air, and leaving the bad air, because your fan is at the top, because your bad air will be setting in the bottom of your box, because of gravity.

Is your furnace located in the basement,Dose your furnace use propane or natural gas? Dose Your furnace have a co2 vent? Mine dose. Really your house releases, very little co2. Not enough to hurt you. The main forms of co2 would be generated by a gas stove, or a furnace, which both should be vented. If you are using electric, that dosent generate co2, Then there is no co2.I believe your house's slow rate of decomposition, also releases co2, but very minute amounts. Now if you turned your entire basement, into a massive fruiting chamber, and put like 1500 trays of substrate in it, I bet you would seriously build up some co2, maybe even inhabitable levels. But if you got a higher rate of co2 in your basement. I would say, put some pot plants down their, and they will take care of that for you, lol. Thats what I try to do.Ideally if you could feed your pot co2, from your mushrooms, and feed your mushrooms fresh oxygene, from your pot plants. you could in theory provide the perfect ecosystem.will that work for answer Koolaid?

Can i ask What kind of tape you used on those extension cords?

Im sorry, Your going to laugh. This stuff is called mighty fix it.As seen on tv. My wife ordered the stuff for something she needed it for, but I took over the black, and the green colors. I do think black electrical tape would work too. I basically tape up the whole end of the cord, an cut small slits for the prongs to slide through. This keeps condensation from seeping into the extension cord. I also use outdoor extension cords. You could also take a jar, put the light inside, and use it like a porch light. Now let me give a little disclaimer here. I am not telling you to do your lights the same way I do. But you stand a much better chance of getting the shit knocked out of you, than you would starting a fire. Fires happen from overloads. Getting shocked, happens from moister.

For once an "as seen on tv" product WAS actually worth it. Getting shocked I can handle, it's the whole house burning down while I'm at work that worried me. Thanks for answering my questions roaddog. I think If I make one of these I'd probably just use rope lights.
So do you only have intake holes on the top of your gh, and are they filtered? And your exhaust fan is wrapped up with the same tape as well?

You can pick up an in line breaker, at Lowe's. I tried rope light too, and they just were not bright enough for me. But I like alot of light, so I can see possible contams. The intake holes, are only at the top, and yes I do use filters. I use little hepa filters that are used for small air purifiers. I get them at wall mart. They only have 1 kind, they are 4 inches by 7 inches, if I remember correctly. And I tape them over the holes, using gorilla glue duct tape. I also taped up my bathroom exhaust fan, with gorilla glue duct tape. These bathroom exhaust fans, are $13 at Lowe's. They come unwired, so you will have to wire them up. I use an extension cord, with the end cut off. Make sure you have a ground on these fans. Make sure you wire in all 3 wires. Remember the green wire is your ground.Dont use the cheep 2 prong extension cords for this.Make sure you use the 3 prong, grounded extension cord, or it will shock the hell out of you. These bathroom exhaust fans, are made to handel high humidity, hell they use them in bathrooms.Funny thing is, If your are growing strains with heavy spore deposits, You will want to clean the spores out of your exhaust fans, every great once in a while. I then use a light timer, with 15 minute intervals, and I run 15 on 45 minutes off. Then I let my humidifier, and my exhaust fan, fight it out.If ya know what I mean. You will have to occasionally turn the humidifier up are down, according to its needs.hope that helps. I also use a power strip, with an extra breaker in it,that I plug everything into, for extra safety.

I'd love to hear how this cabinet worked out. I've got the same one and am following this thread religiously. Is there anything you'd do differently? Were the holes in the shelves sufficient for airflow and consistent RH throughout?
