Indoor Poppies?

So, I have a friend who grows quite a bit of cannabis. He always has plants in rotation, so he always has plants in veg. I was just reading a bit, and saw that poppies grow in cannabises veg lighting. I happen to have a bunch of poppy seeds, and they are just sitting around.
Rather than let them go to waste, he has agreed to try them out indoors, in one of those long flower bed things (as I assume its not very efficient to grow a single poppy per pot).
I can't find so much info on growing them indoors...does anyone have experience with it?
Also, if at the end we wanted to harvest their goodies (may or may not) is it a better to harvest the opium, or just let the pod dry and use the pod?
Thanks!

I grow them in 20 oz cups indoors. Just chopped one yesterday and made a tea. It was gigantheum but by being grown in the cup the biggest pod was almost golf ball sized and it could have been bigger. And I guess the light cycle is reversed from cannabis... 24/0 = flower but I grew my latest one like that from start to finish. It grew under a 1000w hps.
But basically they are EASY to grow and take about the same amount of time as cannabis. By growing them in 20 oz cups you could do LOOOOTS of them that way. Sprinkle a few seeds into a cup of moist soil with drainage holes at bottom. When plants sprout wait a week or two and pull out the plants that are the smallest and leave the biggest one.

This thread gave me some ideas so i searched it up on the interent.
I was gonna sow some poppies outdoors but it's too hot so growing them indoors looks like the best option for now.
This link has some good information

I have a 1.5L bottle that I cut the top off and I made an OBBT of it. OBBT --> Airstone in bottom of container hooked to airpump, fill container halfway to a little more than half way with rocks "I have lava rocks", then fill the remaining with organic soil. "I just put in some compost."
Anyhow,.... I'm gonna put some mccormick seeds into it and see what happens. Do you think I could train the plant so it doesn't get so tall? I don't know why I'm asking cus I'm just gonna plant some seeds today and find out anyhow. "It must be for the post count." LOL

You cant top poppies. It is like lettuce but sends up the flower shoot much higher than the rest of the plant.

A 20 oz cup is like an average beer pong red/blue cup? How much light is needed per poppy?

i never saw much point to indoor actually. it takes up a lot of space, yield is ridiculously low, and takes too long for the return. i love poppies as much as neone else, but let the sun do all the work. itll save u ton of cash in electricity and let those bulbs (and room space) go to better use for something like weed. indoor weed can be just as good (if not better) than outdoor at times.;.... but poppies are somewhat different. u think pot plants are hungry for lumen output and suffer as a result of not getting it? poppies are little brats about it.... tho they dont seem to complain much about other stuff. the potency can seriously suffer with insufficient light intensity.... and after a few monthes of hard work, isnt that what u are looking forward to: potency and justification of time and resources?
id save those seeds for the spring and let the sun grow em for u all u have to do is water, thin, pour a little fert in there once and again, and let em grow. poppies are one of the easiest plants to grow on earth.
