Time between making the cakes and innoculating
    #1348428 - 03/03/03 06:14 AM (21 years, 3 months ago)

I made my cakes about a week ago, and they have been stored in a dry cool place. I'm almost positive that they are in perfect condition. Is it still ok for me to innoculate them, or have I waited too long. Is there a length of time between making the cakes and innoculating them? Thanks for any help you might have.

the issue here is how you have stored the jars...if you are confident about the cleanliness go ahead... If they have a teeny weeny bit of dust well you are in maybe territory..

Did you sterilize them then store them, or have they yet to be sterilized?  The only real way to find out is to innoculate

if you have already pressure cooked or steamed them, then innoculate them as soon as possible!

if you havent, i expect there might be contams already, i had cobweb growing in all my jars after 3 days cus i never sterilized them
