I think you are confusing a flowhood with a room cleaning HEPA filter. The airstream coming from a flowhood should be clean instantly. I would not recommend using your flowhood as a room cleaning HEPA. Get a separate unit for that. A HEPA unit in a room that that the unit is rated to handle will need roughly 1 hour of operation at full throttle to truly clean the air. The flowhood is designed to simply provide a moving stream of clean, filtered air within which you perform contamination sensitive tasks. The concept is that the air is clean and since it is moving and being constantly replenished no outside contaminants can "fall" in.

your right, i misunderstood. however, I am confused. there shouldn't be any crap that needs to be blown off. the filter basically has two "sides; clean and dirty and are relative to the direction the air flows through the filter. I have a question and a suggestion for you. Question: What makes you think that the flowhood needs a blow-off time, do you have proof the contams are coming from the flowhood? Suggestion: Try spraying a small amount of lysol into the prefilter/intake. This would serve to kill any organisms on the filters. As long as you don't saturate it it won't have any adverse effects on the filters since the moving air will evaporate the inherent moisture very rapidly.

I've also read you need to leave it on for a bit before you begin working.
There are debris and such that land on the filter while it's off, it needs some time to push that stuff clean off.

oh, i agree, but that shit isn't velcro and 5 minutes should most certainly be sufficient for removing it. i'd think 1 minute would be sufficient.

There are both wet and dry hepa filters. Most people here buy their filters from filters rx. (My opinion based upon what I have read in posts about hepas here over the last few years.) The last time I checked, all filters rx hepas were wet. (Which means they do not degrade from moisture.)
Your point is valid. One should know if their filter can get wet or not. The tantrum, however, is a bit extreme.

hehe, yeah, i'm gonna go throw my filter away now. dumbass. 1) you don't fucking saturate it, notice i DID point that out. 2) you have got a real serious attitude problem you could have done something like this and not made an ass out of yourself: "hmm, don't you think it might be a bad idea to put a liquid on your HEPA filter since they are made of paper and I've heard of the military going through serious measures to keep them dry and a search shows supporting info?" but know you made an ass out of yourself. good job, keep it up. in the meantime i'll continue to disinfect my HEPA with no adverse effects despite your compelling evidence that I have destroyed it. jeez, and people wonder why we despise noobs.

Hi dudes!
Sorry for replying soo late.
Well I have a prefilter and a H14 (filters 99.995%) Hepa Filter (1ft.x2ft.). When the filter is switched off contams have a chance to sit down on the filter surface. So I have to turn on the flter about 5 minutes before (Now I know it).
Thanks bros mobyd
